I'm planning on going. New rear tires should be in midweek. I'm probably just going to go down Saturday for test n tune...

Last time I ran on concrete was at Sebring last summer, so I need some seat time before the Nat tour and pro. Plus, the new tires are 275's, so I've got to figure out tire pressures as well.

Last thing I want to do after a long week at week is drive that damned far. Perhaps somebody could contact Ft. Myers and get them to move closer to Tampa? :D

bill, you're not dedicated enough...just kidding. its really not that bad of a drive.

i made it down there in less than 2 hours doing around 90mph+ the whole way. in the morning, with a valentine1 its not a bad drive at all. if anyone would like to follow me i'll keep you safe from the blue boys.

eric, it will be a 2.5 hour drive for you...given you are 45min north of where i am. i'm not sure if 75 south is faster than 275 for you but we could meet up in bradenton where 275 and 75 converge.

I agree. I made the trip once and decided that it wasn't worth it. After a 2-hour drive out there, running and working for 4 hours and the 2-hour drive back, I was completely exhausted... and all for 6 runs.

And, to make that trip in 2 hours from here requires that you drive 90 mph. (not a problem on 75 between the bay and Ft. Meyers as that seems to be about the speed traffic flows) Unlike the minivan and SUV drivers on the road, I have a little respect for the speed and I don't relax when I'm driving 90 in my Miata. So that's a pretty intense drive for me.

I used to drive about 90 minutes to do autocrosses frequently, but it was a casual 90 minutes at 75-80 with little traffic. The quality of the drive to and from an event changes the flavor of the entire day.

GCAC events are great, I just can't justify that drive. Maybe every now and then, but not regularly.

Drive on your street tires ya pansies.

It works for me now that the BFGs are shot and I'm broke.

Yeah, they're down to the wear bars too... :( That's the problem with having street and track tires... 2 sets at once. OUCH!!!

Ah, one of the many beauties of driving a Miata. Tires are cheap!

I don't race on street tires anymore. I'd still win E-stock, but what's the point? Im through the wear bars in the back anyway, but that means nothing. I bought a Stock class car so I could run race tires.

The new tires arrived yesterday and have been mounted. Modifications to the tire trailer should be done tonight so i can fit the 275's on it).

Beware all I may have rear traction for the first time in many months.....

90+ w/ our FD ratio...hell no.
It pisses me off just driving to work, I don't think I could handle 2hrs of it. :D :D

at 90mph i'm right around 5100, which is JUST below vtec. i've actually driven for 10+ minutes in vtec which makes for about 15mph.

just go, who cares if it costs 5-10 more dollars in gas...its well worth the trip in my opinion.

Care to explain how VTEC makes you go 15mph faster? Gearing is gearing....the amount of power doesn't make you go X mph.

chet

correction.

MPG

sorry, hahhahahahaha.

wow, i sound like a ricer, i meant to say 15-18 miles per gallon.

0HP930

I thought you meant that you had to do 15 over 90 (105 MPH) to hit vtec in top gear.

Thank you for clearing up the confusion.

i may not be now, i just dynoed my car and i'm running 10-1 air/fuel.

this stupid ecu is just dumping fuel into my engine...and i need to find another ecu before i make any long drives...so this weekend may be over.

first problem i've had with my car in a long time...such a simple problem too...

(for those interested...here are some pictures of my car...on the dyno...or a link...at least...click on it if you want. http://www.hondaswap.com/forums/index.php?act=ST&f=4&t=6914& )
