Bone stock, but for those who don't anything about them, they're a FWD Supercharged 3800 Series II V6 engine. It puts out 240 horsepower at the belt according to official numbers and it has 2 modes of shifting: normal and performance. I don't have any track times yet; might get some this weekend.
For now I'm gonna keep it stock I think. I might put on an intake and a pulley one of these days, but nothing I can't undo within an hour or two. I think a pulley adds about 30hp, so that'd be nice.
Eventually I'd like to drop a custom turbo in place of the supercharger. Its got all the internals for a power adder, so I'm all set in that department. You don't hear of too many turbocharged GTP's running around.

Turbo GTP????? Hmmmmm...sounds like a great idea to me. Anyone doing it yet?
Soluxx
01-01-2003, 03:04 PM
No, I don't think anyone has done it yet. I can't really find anything on the internet about it. Though I may want to wait for a newer generation GTP because they're bringing out the 3800 Series III V6 engines and an upgraded Eaton supercharger. I *think* they're going to be either 260 hp or 280 hp. I know GM had a concept car GTP that put out 280 hp/ 280 lbs of torque.

my plan is to sell the lt4 TA...and buy either a ls1 and do heads and cam, or buils up a nasty turbo buick. either way, its gonna be skary :D

Hey AL... you've seen my on going project.
Better than Mint 1996 z28 with SS hood, rs ground effects, Chrome SS rims, super style wing...
LT1 Engine
Intake- Morosso cold air, underscoop, 75mm MAF ends, Screen removed, TPIS airfoil attached to Twin 48mm TB
Exhaust- Stainless Steel SLP 1 3/8 primary short tube headers, stock y-pipe, 3inch Stainless steel adjustable borla exhaust
Chasis & Suspension- BMR subframe connectors, poly panhard rod, poly lower control arms
Tranny and Drivetrain- LT4 clutch, steel 3-4 shift fork, Pro 5.0 Shifter, 1LE aluminum drive shaft, TA Girdle
Engine- 220/230 .544 114LSA CC305 cam 1.6 pro mag rockers, comp r pushrods
Computer- OBDI conversion, mail order tune by mustgofaster racing
Other- Underdrive pulley
Probably forgetting some stuff...
Some custom Longtubes are on the way, probably going with an X-pipe on the header set up. get her dyno tuned after that.... Should match the Z06's in ET after this month.
Once thats done were looking at Bilstein HD's and some LS1 brakes.
My goal while still in College is to make this car handle and perform with the higher dollar cars and spank most of them in the 1/4. AT the same time maintaining its looks and mechanics.
Everything is taking a fair bit of time because as I mod more I make sure i have the correct quality tools around.. nothing worse than doing a job without the desired tools.
Im just a younger AL... with less money... :D I wont be happy until my car is insanely fast.
HybridSS
01-03-2003, 02:41 AM
Zdriver...i dont know about the younger Al. I would have to say your car is alot nicer than mine. Alot better shape, even though its older. I have all the engine stuff...so all future mods are going toward appearance and strength.

01-03-2003, 02:53 PM
My Z has its share of problems too Al :) I just make sure to take the time to fix em as when they happen...
There are many of us that would kill for your set up...
I appreciate your compliments but dont think that'll keep me from finding out where u live and doing an engine swap in the middle of the night :o ;)
So what are your plans for the Hybrid SS? I think she's long over due a 12 bolt.. Your 10 bolt must hate you. Last i heard shes saying more streetable??? Shooting for more reliablity so u can drive it more often?
Soluxx man what happened to the Black TA??? Didnt u just buy it a couple months ago? THe roots style blow incorporates the tb in it.. so it might be tricky trying to fit a TB with the tps sensor and cables to it for the removal of that blower. It'd be a lot of fabrication with the turbo piping since no one has done it yet... How much boost is the GTP capable of safely anyways?

aahhhh shit... the mod bug bit me again.. Just couldnt pass up this deal.. Looks like i will now beable to go 60 to 0mph faster than i can go 0 to 60mph.... Its gonna be a weird feeling... :?

well i own 2 GM cars:
'63 impala is currently for sale but i still have my plans for it if i don't end up sellin it. i would like u tear down the 327 that is in it and bore and stroke it but im not to sure how extreme i wanna go with that. heads, cam...etc. im still debating if i wanna go forced induction on it or not. rework the whole rearend. i want to scrap the 2spd beaterglide which has gone to shit for 700R4 which i already have but haven't had time to rebuild and put in. then down to paint and interior and thats about it for that car.
next...
'99 tahoe which is currently completely stock. im gonna start with little things like intake, headers, and exhaust. i wanna do air bags just for the nice ride and the adjustablity. other than that im gonna wait till the warrenty is up to put a blower and maybe some more motor work. i also wanna do a torque thrust style wheel and maybe custom paint.

Looks like the project is being put on hold due to forces i can not control... So we are skipping stage 3 and going to stage 4 for my scheduled mods, which goes into cornering, handling, and stopping + some odds and ends.. I'll have to pick up the horsepower and torque mods in 2 months or so. I wanna do a little tranny/clutch work son but thats really a two person job... and i hate asking for help..
We'll see.

dont be afraid to ask me cuz im always willing to learn new things and for the experience. id like to know more about my car and work on it more but i really dont have a second car which is why its mostly stock right now. i dont really have the time to tear it down for a few of the major bolt ons and stuff. but soon....

Ok, I've got a 2001 s-10 Xtreme with almost 38G's on it. Just waiting on that warrenty to run out. Now I am going to play under the hood when funds around. So far the only modification on it as of now is a K & N air filter that maybe gave me 5 horses at most but I have plans to give that 4.3 liter vortec some special lovin'
future plans:
[/url]
K & N air intake, no cold air
Bora cat/back twin ex.
sway bars
What else could and to the performance :?:

Where do you start?? just added a 125 shot of nitrous but my solenoid is bad so replace that asap! want to go with a better throttle body, any suggestions??? Need better tires , wider etc..... with those stock hook ups it's spin city and not the TV show. Like to upgrade my brakes , it would be nice to stop so I can race another day. I would love to hear from guys with Z's to see what worked for them and what didn't!
Mods to date
Intake
Foil
flow master cat back
02 bi pass (cat less now?
Programmer
pulleys
and of course she is bottle fed now

TNT has some big ass heavy duty solenoids, NX has lifetime warrentys on theirs.
52mm or 58mm... Nomad on camaroz28.com ports 48mm's to 52mm's. I think for 125 or something like that.
If you have 245/50/16's on there u can just run a nitto drag radial... i went 17x9 SS rims then put some nitto drag radials on them.. 275/40/17's.
As for the S10... I personally would do a 350 swap into it. I know i wont be satisfied with my cars performance until shes at least stroked with a power adder. I wouldnt mess around with bolt ons for a v6.

This might be long:
Syclone - New bigger turbo and Air/air intercooler
elec boost controller
headers
FAST ECU
55# injectors
other small stuff.
Still need to rebuild the stock tranny and put a higher stall.
Typhoon - Mostly stock with an aftermarket chip.
Need to put the 20G turbo on and custom DP.
Hurst/Olds - It just sits in the garage.
But the needs list is:
paint job
Front end work
interior
Tune
That's all for the domestics.
The Sentra gets driven daily :)

I've seen one... he put the 3.8 GN turbo in it, and converted it to RWD... he was trying to sell it for like $65k!! I'll see if I can dig it up... it was on the net somewhere. It might have even been on Ebay.
My plans for my '02 GTP- Pulley, CAI, cat-back, lower an inch, STB's, 17x8.5's.
My plans for the '02 WS6- (Going to have to wait after my Hose & Ducts Business takes off - Pimpson Hose)
H/C, wheels, clutch, tranny, 12 bolt, exhaust, suspension, and appearance mods. That's about it. :D

Where to begin? I had a TNT kit, but due to more important things, I had to sell it. I only have 10K miles left on my warranty, and then the shitty 2.73s are coming out to be replaced with 3.42s. That should get me to a more reasonable 1/4 time. After that, I'd like to do a full dual setup (headers, y pipe included) and maybe a stall. :?:

For the '97 Z-28:
-either an SLP or McLeod clutch/PP assembly
-SLP 1LE panhard bar
-Lakewood LCA's
-BMR LCA relocation brackets
-SLP take-off shocks
-Nittos
-Energy Suspension urethane tq. arm and trans. mount
-QTP electric cutout
-either nitrous (doubt it now that the car is closing in on 100K miles) or PCMforless tuning
-this is all currently in the works as I write this thanx to good 'ole tax returns.:D
For the '81 T/A, time & $$$$ permitting:
-take care of the hideous rust on the A-pillar and trunk area with some POR-15
-get one of those mobile glass repair guys to replace the cracked windshield
-get the bodywork done by my parent's neighbor for cheap, since he is always doing someones car every couple of months; just install and align the parts I have off an '80 parts car
-remove rear seats and install some cheapo Summit race seats up front
-paint my car myself with Krylon flat black (really:D)
-finally get my heads done by Kens Speed & Machine
-CC XE274 cam
-7/16" rocker studs/poly locks/1:65 RR's
-ARP heavy duty rod bolts
-Edelbrock Performer RPM intake
-Demon carb.
-D.U.I. distributor
-MSD 6A
-Hedman Hedders
-Torque Tech 3-in exhaust with X-pipe
-either Flowtech Warlock mufflers with QTP electric cutouts or Dynomax Bullets
-subframe connectors
-full Global West Cat-5 competition suspension
-Z-rated tires on the factory 15x8's
-swap the 3.70's for the original 3.08s and head west for the Nevada Open Road Race that I've always dreamed of entering.:evil4:
well i just made the biggest change to my car that i'm gonna be makin' for a looooong time....i traded my 94 v6 camaro in this morning for my new baby. 97 SS, i love it already. i won't be doin' much to it anytime soon, but the thoughts of twin turbo's under my hood make me drool.....maybe after college.

Sweet car Gus. LT4 or LT1? I'm no expert, but seeing that your headlight openings are white, rather than the usual black, did you check to see if your car had been in an accident? Unless a body color option was available? When I got in an accident, I had to tell the bodyshop to paint the new nose's light openings black or else they would have painted it white like the rest of my car.

after my dad and his friend fix the brakes on his 68 camaro he wants to take it to a TR trackday.
it currently houses a 454 with 10.5:1 pistons and someother shit i know nothing about. my dad said it would turn in the 11's
i got to ride in it once with 16" tires, couldnt get any traction, and couldnt see shit, the tires just burn.
this car was FULLY restored from interior/exterior.
it will be painted in about 2 weeks and ill post some pics of the car and motor.

Hey Poncho long time no see..
Gus thats a sweet SS. Do you go to USF. I havent seen that car around.
Well my Project is halted for this month. I didnt get the LS1 knuckles with my brake upgrade. There was some miscommunication between me and the seller. Even still i got almost everything for next to nothing. I dont want to do the supension until I have the brakes ready to go on... No use doing one and not the other at the same time...
I live in lakeland, the only time i'm in tampa is on the weekends. My cousin and a few of my friends go to USF so i'm up at their apartment in jefferson commons alot. I'm gonna try to catch the next TR trackday so maybe i can put some faces with these names. If you happen to go to 1320 tomorrow i'll be there too, can't miss the car.

Yeah. I dug myself into a financial hole around the middle of last year and I've been digging myself out of it slowly but surely. Hell, I met you once as we drove side by side briefly on DM; that was along time ago. Your car is definitely a looker. My girl still thinks I should get a body kit for my Z because of you. My goal is to have the stuff I listed for my Z done by the end of spring, then I'll make it out to the show & track more often. Then once the Z is finished I can concentrate on my T/A.:D Hope to see you out and about.

02-14-2003, 10:42 AM
Yeah that was a while ago.. I dont remember if i had the chrome SS rims and SS hood then..?? Thanks for the compliments. And you should listen to your girl... :)
I picked up my tubular polyurathane panhard rod for 50 bucks on ebay. (new)
I picked up my Tbryne tubular Lower control arms for 80 bucks off ebay also. (slightly used)
Make sure your trans mount isnt polyurathane because it'll ride really rough.
I researched a lot on clutches and found that SLP's and the LT4 clutch kits have only 1 complaint.. That if you are pushing serious horsepower and torque they wont hold.
McCloud has few complaints too but they are more expensive.
If you get the nittos and Lower control arms i'd pick up a TA girdle. Cheap insurance for the rear end.

Well let's see...
2002 Z with mostly fun mods for now.... In the last month and a half I have added 5% tint, Lous short stick, slp grill, 3" "Dino-mouth" exhaust, 17 x 10's on all 4 corners with Nitto's, Eiback Pro-kit, BMR adjustable panhard and STB... Subframes and relo brackets are going on this weekend.... Already had Taylors and a lid on it when I got it..
Future plans... not sure yet, waiting to make sure I don't have any issues with it yet - I've put about 2K miles on it since I got i.. maybe a cam and Longtubes... definately no spray for now...
And I added my tag..... "COP MGNT" LOL!

Short term.
SLP L S 6 Intake with EGR, Ported TB, Cam(Comp XR269HR-14, Crane 1449531, or MTI B1) fix the rear end Zextel\Torsen with 3:73 Computer tuning.
Goal for this stage is NA 11.9-11:7 with the stall and headers\exhaust I have now. In a completely streetable daily driver.
Long Term.
LQ4 iron Block .02 overbore, Lunati crank with 3.92" stroke=396 ci(actualy it is 396.00219 CI), H Beam con rods, forged aluminum pistons, ported L S 6 heads, MTI R1 cam. And a GearVendors overdrive unit Strange 12 bolt posi 3:73.
Goal is an 11:0-10.9 NA Completely streetable daily driver that I can take to 190 MPH in the top end.
Of course there will be chasis and suspension upgrades too but that is a thumb nail sketch of what I plan with my car.
***Had to edit because the board took out L S 6. Trying to figure that one out but okay.***

I have a stock 1997 Camaro RS, Red. Not too bad of an engine. I got the 3.8L, not as slow as i thought. Really wanted to get a 95' Z-28, but too much $$$ and with the gas prices sky rocketing b/c of the possible war and the 5.7L doesn't help that problem at all.
*Future Plans*
Flowmaster 80 Series Muffler, single inlet dual-outlet
K&N Intake??? What would be the best intake for my car???
BBK Headers
Performance Chip
Any help on what products would be best for my car???
