Stupid v6 Mustang runs extremly hot and sometimes over heats!
Im getting really sick of this car it started running hot the other day after we had that crazy rain for a solid week i cant run the ac i cant get stuck in traffic without it climbing quickly. If im driving it sits toward the end of normal but if i stop for a light it climbs and then will jump down when i start moving.Ive flushed the system and replaced the thermostat still nothing.I dont see any leaks but i have not done a pressure test yet.Im wondering if i should by pass the fan and make it run all the time or if its the radiator?! I cant keep doing this tho i have an hour and half commute to work lol

I have one of these cars, and I run the living dogcrap out of it at the autocross w/o issues, so it's not inherent in the vehicle. Try checking to make sure the fans come on, if you wire around them, it's no good, the fans will just wear out faster and the car will not warm up in the winter. (well florida winters it will warm up). Start the car, get a cheapo mechanical temp gauge, or a cooking gauge, stick it in the radiator and see what happens. If the car gets hot and the fans don't come on try looking at the sending unit for the fan switch. If it goes up immediately then look at the thermostat. Worse comes to worse, the car could have a bad head gasket. Are any of the plugs rusty, is the compression close across all cylinders? When was the last time the coolant system was serviced?
i dont think its ever been serviced i just replaced the thermostat so i dont think its that ill have to try a cheap temp gauge.I also have a radiator pressure tester i can try this weekend. What is all included in servicing the coolent system? Thanks for all the info.

It could be a temp sensor that keeps the fans from coming on, causing an overheat, but the (temporary cheapo) temp gauge will tell you that. Don't overpressure the system with the radiator checker and blow out the water pump seal. Generally, servicing the cooling system is check for leaks, check hoses and fittings, pressure test, replace thermostat and coolant and check/replace the radiator cap. You might be surprised to find how many overheats are caused by the gasket on the cap, (or the wrong pressure on the cap) if the cap doesn't pressurize the system, the water will boil at a lower temp, creating the overheat. Also, make sure that you "burp" the system, on top of the engine, just forward of the intake there is a small fitting used to bleed the cooling system. This is cracked open until water flows out of it, preventing an air bubble in the system.
You may want to take the thermostat housing off and place a garden hose in there to backflush the system, a lot of crud will probably come out, but you can't do it with the stat installed.

question where are these seals? Reason i ask is a few weeks ago i started to notice a little bit of coolent on the ground towards the back passenger side.I only would see it if the car was on a down ward angle but when it was on flat service never would see it? Wierd i know
