More specifically Neon headed ones. Here is a quote off of Relentless Racing custom fab page.

Currently we are looking into making a sprocket for use on a 2.2 with a Neon head!

Just one more thing to make this conversion easier. I would love to see Gary manufacturer and sell some more parts for such a conversion.

he may. but there;s a lot more than just the sprocket to the swap

Yup, but the less parts you have to worry about making yourself, the easier. Also If RR were to make them, they would probably cost less than if you were to get a single set for yourself.

i agree MoRice. If hes doing that much, he may come out with the coolant plugs and all the braided SS lines to redo the coolant

2.5>2.4

Plus I won't be able to get one in Orlando because, our junkyards suck, all we get are rental cars, so a run of the mill Neon head is easy to find (especially since the British tourists love those rentals).

We should have a debate on whats easier, converting a 2.2/2.5 to DOHC or getting a 2.0/2.4 into a 80's FWD.

I say 2.2/2.5 with neon head because electronics would be easier, and also because you wouldn't have to fuck around making motor mounts and figuring out which CV's to use.

I agree.. but there's lots more to look at. For example, as we all know the 2.5 isnt a rev happy motor, however the reason we want the DOHC head is for major flow... so why cut the band off at 5200 when we can use a 2.0 or 2.4 that was made to rev along with the head? 2.2? Maybe thats a happy medium? I dunno. Also you have to make sure the timing belt sprockets and such will swap from TD to "new" cranks. (we need a name for the 2.0/2.4!)

I have a feeling that for a while they'll go straight to places that sell engines or clips.. not junkyards.. the guy who scraps it will get more from those places rather than the $20 from CDM.

I'm still up in the air. I'm waiting until some people including Donovan get some more progress on this, some more people do complete swaps, etc. In the meantime, I have enough projects to keep me busy

however... so far i would build a 2.4 block, 2.4 crank, 2.5 T1 rods, Neon DOHC head, probably custom pistons, Meximelt 2.4 Turbo exhaust manny, and DOHC intake I guess.

oh yeah... wire in some T3 electronics since I have those laying around

Go with a neon's automatic and swap all the guts from my 413 into it, or find a neon 5-spd. As for axles, big deal. I have a friend who can build any custom axle combo i want for cheap.

WERD

Obviously I need to browse more forums on td.com

I agree too, I will wait for others to do it first, since I really don't have the time or money to mess around with this stuff.

yeah.. besides it would suck if you go thru 6 mos of fab work trying to make something happen, then 2 mos later someone else unveils a setup with a totally different approach, 100x easier, and works better.

I'd wait unless you want to be the 1st with it... but we dont :)

Well my car has been down long enough, and I can assure you 99% probability that the next motor going in will be a SOHC Turbo 2.2/2.5. But I still like to talk and learn about all the other different possibilities.

id put the 2.4 dohc into an all out racer... keep the k a mild intercooled 16psi sohc 2.5... something dependable for the daily driver

Like I said the k is 99% going 2.2/2.5 SOHC turbo.
