Where can I find out basic information on turboing a car? I have some ideas about it but don't wanna sound like an idiot asking.

books...I have one called TurboChargers...it goes over EVERYTHING....then there's one by Corky Bell....just read lots of books, then you'll be a turbo god and everyone will look up to you....or at least you'll know what you're talking about. If you have basic Q's, you can pm me or prolly anyone else, I don't think ppl will mind that much

questions:

1. Can you mount the turbo off of your y-pipe(v6 engine) or would you need to have custom headers built?

2. How much do you need to upgrade for a small turbo; ie injectors, maf, custom burnt chip, etc.?

3. What is a good turbo for like 100hp gain?

1 no, the Y pipe is too low for the oil to return to the engine, the turbo needs to be above the oil level, so you would need a costom manifold/header to accomadate the turbo, plus might need to relocate items like the a/c compressor or alternator ( reason i say is that i did a turbo set-up on a 98 Z-28.....what a pain in the ass)

2&3 100 hp increase is quit abit, you would need more than a 'small' turbo, and you would need larger injectors, fuel pump, re-mapped ECU,

hope this helps, and does not discourage ;)
