Shady mechanic!
Just wondering how other people on this site would handle this situation. So a yr ago or so I took my car to a TR shop that I had heard nothing bad about I had them replace the timing belt, pulley, tensioner, idler, Water pump, and valve cover gaskets. In the past week I had to take my car into a shop to replace the water pump and the valve cover gaskets. My current mechanic tells me the water pump was never replaced the one he replaced is the stock water pump same goes for the valve cover gaskets. My question is how would yall handle this. Should i just flame the shop and tell everyone I know not to go there or should i pursue legal matters. The money wasn't that much I won't go into detail but I'm kinda stuck here cuz I'm pissed but not sure what to do. Any ideas?

Call the shop and calmly and professionally explain what you found to them first...see what they say...then you can go nuts if they dont wanna play ball haha. Sucks to hear, but at least thats only like $60 worth of parts...
It was a year ago, you're SOL. You should have checked their work before you took your car home. Crap like this is the reason why the only hand that touches my car is my own.
If you have the receipt of work done last year, and can prove that is the factory water pump, then you can actually do something. Otherwise you're prolly screwed
This is exactly the reason I go above and beyond for my customers.I might be slow, but all that matters is I do a good job for my customers.I hope your happy with my work.

Yep, this is also the reason you should request to keep the old parts off the car, even if you just toss them once you get home.

I'm gonna talk to the shop before I started throwing dirt on folks. If they give me any shit about it I will be banned for making so many threads about how they rip people off!
