Shame on Sunshine dragstrip. they suck!

OK I know what your thinking..... but really I have been raceing at sunshine for years now. Last night (Wendsday Oct 16th) was the worst night yet. OK granted there was alot of pro cars. BUT there wasn't as many pro cars as there were sportsman or street cars. I got there and I was the 67th car in. when I got in line we waited for 2 1/2 hours before I got my first run in. then when I got to the Tree, I didn't even get my second stage light on when the starter ran the tree down. they rush the spotsmans cars though and let the pro cars run 2 or 3 times so they can enter into the top dog compititiion. Which I feel is BS. Why have a test and tune night and let street cars in if there not going to let us run? $15 to get in and in 5 hours I get 2 runs in. SUNSHINE SUCKS. It has been getting worst and worst every week. the guy who sends the cars to the tree in the stageing lanes is an asshole. he ignores the street guys and doesn't let the cars grudge match all the time. it used to be that you can go to Sunshine and pick and choose who you wanted to race on wendsday. Now they are assholes. I asked for a race last night and the asshole guy I just told you about gave me a F'in van to race. I run a low 8 high 7 and he gives me a 13 second van. WTF.... when there was a mustang cobra right behind me. What ever happened to the FUN? How come they don't charge street guys less money, we run less races? well the answer to that is simple. Money grubbing assholes? yeah I think thats it. they have taken the fun out of wendsday nights. Shame on SunShine. if it wasn't for the 100 street cars who came to race last night Sunshine would not be able to payout races on Friday nights. Us street racers are the backbone of sunshine. without us and the people we bring, sunshine would close down. I say we don't have to take it any more. We do have a say and we can change things. How simple. boycott. one day one race. if everyone stuck together then we would be where we wanted to be, instead of having these assholes ruin our fun that we PAY for.

I hear a rumor that Todd Dickinson is not running any races at sunshine any more. Well if this is true then the asshole incharge now is going to ruin it for all. and if Todd is still running the show then SHAME ON YOU TODD. Get the track back to where it used to be, FUN for all not fun for some. I think Sunshine OWES every street racer who paid $15 to wait in line last night only to get one or two races our money back.

NOW Your thinking what the F does this asshole want. what I want is simple. More respect for the street guys. we pay our way we should not be treated like second class. Remember there are alot of us and alot of people that goto watch us race our street cars. With out the street guys on Wendsday what would you do? Normally theres only like 20 or 30 pro cars out of 180 - 200 racers, Hey Sunshine is 30pro cars enought to pay you bills. Think about that next time you make us wait for 2 1/2 hours then rush us though our lights and races. So untill sunshine reconizes the fact that street guys out number the pro guys and we want to race also, then sunshine sucks and is run by an asshole money hungry anti-racer.

Now I haven't even talked about how crappy the track was last night and the lack of Water in the burn out box. but I'll let that be another Topic...

Yup. Actually, I've been boycotting Sunshine for a long time. I used to be a regular but I can't remember the last time I was there. Maybe once, possibly 2 times a year now. Major reason...Quick 8, second reason...rice.

Sunshine is gay to run at. Only time I go to Sunshine is to watch the pro cars. Other than that I'll make the drive to Bradenton to race.

This was never a problem before the import scene took off, now we have people bringing their mom's cars out..THIS IS WHAT IS CAUSING THE SLOW DOWN, NOT THE PRO CARS..

Both cars have to be staged in order to activate the tree, so i don't see how what you are saying is possible about them dropping the tree before you were staged.

Line up your own race, don't expect the guy waving people through to do it for you, he's not your mom... You can still pick who you want to race, but if it's a busy night you'll have to deal with it.

I was there watching and from what I saw, they were running the street cars through at a decent pace.. I think the issue is the fact that there were TWO major oil downs on the track, took 45min-1hour to clean one and a good 20 minutes to clean the other, so EVERYONE got fewer races...

I remember when 100 cars was PACKED, and they've never had a problem making their payouts, so don't get all high and mighty thinking street cars are the only reason the track is still around.. Street cars aren't the BACKBONE of the strip, sorry to burst your bubble.

Besides, most of the Pro cars that come out to test and tune REGULARLY are the ones that run the Friday night races on a regular basis, so yes they will cater to them a little more, but they bring in the money through the points races and the spectators..


Please, go ahead and boycott.. I love it when it's empty up there.. I get more runs.. from the PRO lane..
Plain and simple, build a faster car and you can run the PRO lane and we won't have to listen to you complain.

I also was there wed and I know what you mean, I left after I waited for about 2hrs. I got 3 runs in, and they were all bad, I don't know if it was the track or me but I spun like crazy unlike Bradenton. And 15 bucks is is a rip off!

Get out there when it opens up and you'll be able to make more runs, a lot of people show up later.

You must be kidding. Lakeland is $15 also, and is the worst track I've seen. It's uneven, never prepped, and you have to wait in line for freaking 4-wheelers to run before you get to!!!

At lakeland, there may be 30 cars there and you'll still only get 3-4 runs in. That place is crap!

I am never one to slam people and this wasn't one of those times. But if you look at the patrons of the track 5 years ago, there weren't nearly as many import participants as there are today. The increase in participation by the import crowd over the past year or so has definitely had an effect on the Wednesday night TnT in how many runs you get, etc. Not saying that it's a bad thing, but not saying that I'm happy about it either, I'm just dealing with it like everyone else. What I didn't agree with is the comments made my Mr. Tate about the Pro cars slowing the program down. If he wants a pure 'steeet car" track, he can go to Club 1320. I don't bitch and complain about not being able to run down there durring that time, so I don't want to hear it from anyone about where the slick tired cars can run.
Not jumping on you, i just get tired of the whiners.....

I've been to worse tracks.. it's not a bad place. I can cut 1.3x 60' times there, so I wouldn't say it blows..
I've never heard so many people complain.. wait until it's no longer there, then those same people will be complaining about driving to BMP..

well if you want more runs, get there like as soon as it opens, my number is usually between 10-25..and ill get 4-6 runs in then when people show up ill do 1-2 more just cause the line is really long.

Yep right at 6pm and you can get a bunch of runs in..... i would go to the 1/4mile track more but its a 2 hour drive from NPR so screw that.

can someone tell me the times and days of the test and tune in brandenton and sunshine...i live in ocala and we go to GAINSVILLE RACE WAY and it is on wends at 6 but this coming up friday the 6th it will be from 6 till 12am it is going to be bad ass!!!!!!!!!!after this friday no more wends till season open again. :D :lol:

cant really t&t at sunshine lol, i just practice my launching and turn my 1/8's down a bit....dec 15th is T&T at BMP.

regular is 6-10? @ sunshine wednesdays and thursdays is 6:30-10:30 thursdays...im pretty sure on that but i could be wrong

about 3-4 weeks ago i was at sunshine. i got one run it. it started to rain. i went the next week and told the HOT lady's at the front that take your $ the situation i thought they might let me run for free. since they have before. and they said no...so i wasted 15 first week and and the gas $ second time drveing down thier

won't happen unless they call it before 8 or 8:30, then you get back in for free, etc.
of course, they do all they can to make you wait until after 8.... :roll:

I heard somewhere that they will be making a 1/4 mile strip at Sunshine. Anyone else here this? I've never been there, but thats because I don't want to run the 1/8.
