97 Civic Gas Gauge Floats??? Help!

97 Civic Gas Gauge Floats??? Help!

I have a 97 Civic Sedan LX. Around half a tank, i get on it to get goin and the gas gauge drops to E and i when i get to a steady speed it goes back to normal. anyone can tell me a fix for this? or is just a factory default for the gauge to float that bad...

I had this problem before with my protege. The floater in the Gas tank was bad. When I replaced it the problem went away.

can u jus get one from advance? i hear now alot of civics 96-00's have this problem

I got mine from Autozone IIRC.

Edit: I think it was my RX-7 I fixed that problem. My protege when I punched the gas the Fuel needle kept going towards the F. Showing I had a full tank of gas. It was pretty funny at first then got annoying. My RX-7 I changed it because I remember the fuel pump could be changed from the trunk. My protege you could change it from the Rear seats IIRC. Hopefully the Civics are the same way. I had a 95. I never messed with the gas tank on my 95EG.

my dad is driving it cuz he sells insurance and its good on gas, he drives alot
