i was coming home from my friends on mcmullen and someone in a new model black gti vr6 pulled up next to me. He was trying to race me from a roll for a while but i kept turning down the race. But then the closest light went red and we slammed our brakes to catch it. We took off even from the line. I had him til third. we hit about 85 before i figured a cop would be around. I was ahead by maybe 2 feet. I could look back at him...close ass race. He had a DTM tip and an olympic liscense plate.

what does your car run in the 1/4. or have you ran it yet? those vr6's are fast.

I''ve never seen a b16 get lower than 15 at the track. you mean 8th mile right?

shit my STOCK LS in my 88 hatch did 15.2
and that was my 1ST TIME at the track 120hp and 113 torque dynoed stock

shifting at redline in 1st like a asshole and had MAD WHEEL HOP.
all b16s i seen ran 15's

i've seen a fast vr6 at an auto-x in connecticut. i'd say the car was 10% responsible and the driver was 90% responsible for the fast times, but still...180hp is 180hp...or whatever they're rated at.

vr6 corrado's are the lightest vw's and they can barely muster 15.0's at the track.

again, numbers speak for themselves, and i'll race a vr6 any time without much worry.

my vr6 ran a 14.8 with a K&N... i have never seen a stock civic or integra (with just a air filter) run in the 15's...

Chet,

Corrado's are not the lightest vw's out there. They weigh anywhere from 2600-2900lbs.

You probably will beat most late model vr6's. You have a better Hp/weight.

are golf's lighter than corrado's?

i really don't know vw's at all...i just assumed that they are heavier because they look larger...and the newer ones have more power options and safety features making them heavier...or so i thought.

which vw, that has a vr6, is the lightest?

hmmm, i guess you have never seen a gsr, type r, or an si run at the track then, you must not go that often then.

what does b16 have to do with my car? And ive raced the old style gti ( i think 95-99 or something) and lost bad. But these new ones dont impress me.

is there anyone in here with one of them b16 or vr6 or whatever else that runs 12s in the qarter. id like to run one but i dont want to run one unless they are in the 12s because i at least want a real run.

there are a few turbo b16's/b18's that are in the 12's. all motor, there are a few b18c's in the 12's...but i doubt you'll see them street racing. at the track...occasionally.

go to bradenton for tr track day...you might see some quick honda's there. as far as vr6's...i don't know anyone around here with one, so i can't speak for them.

hay mr witt. thanks for the reply. i would like to come to one of your track days and race some of these guys. i like to race at the track because i can see if i got faster or slower and i see by how much i beat the other guy or loose to the other guy.

I have a 97 GTi VR6 and would be willing to race any of you at the track day they are having if I go. I'm not saying I will beat anyone. I have never run my car at the track, so I don't know what it will do, BUT I know some stock MK3 GTi VR6's have run 14.7's completely stock. Also I would like to say, VW's (as well as many other german cars) are made for high speed cruising, the stock gearing isn't great for drag racing. My car has a chip, intake and some exhaust stuff, so it isn't stock. But I have taken it to 145 on the highway with ease, and still had about 2000 more rpms to play with.

that 14.8 was at wintertrffen when it was cold as hell, but it was still the fastest vr6 there.....they dont move tho for 6's

hay mr man. i drive a 1975 buick skyhawk but it aint got the 231 v6 anymore it gots a 1970 350 rocket out a cutlass with a built th350 tranny. its shiny red with tinted windows and if you dont see me you can hear me because i just run headers and cherry bombs now. it also got some crager ss chrome wheels on it. the back ones are real wide and the front ones are normal 7 inch. i got a few things done to her and she runs real nice but im fixin on doing some more stuff pretty soon to make her faster.

hay mr man. i do take it to the track. i went saturday to bradenton motor park and even tho it was hot and yucky i pulled a 12.2 at 118 with an 1.9 sixty foot. i was looking for anyone else from here who been talking alot of shit but there wasnt nobody else. there was a couple a ricer kids but when i talked to them they said they aint from here. but they could a been lieing.

Yeah, I know this post is old, but I raced 2 different GSR's last night and beat both pretty easily. First one was a black GSR with personalized plate(B18 GSR) so you know he thought he was fast, he tried 4 times from a roll and I got him easily everytime, then from a light it wasn't even close. All I could tell was exhaust on it, second one was black GSR with body kit, intake, chip, exhaust. He was faster than the first one by quite a bit, But I got him from a roll by about 3 car lengths, and from a light a I pulled about 5 lenghts on him by about 80 mph. So my conclusion is that a GTi VR6 it faster than a GSR.
