18psi track
25psi street
iim thinking i should go lower?
ET DRAGS
track - 15psi
On FWD car there is less weight on the drive tires so you can run alittle less pressure and still get the same geometre of the tire. While RWD cars put alot more weight on the drive tires they need additional pressure.

MT Slick - 11 - 11.5lbs
15-18lbs sounds high for a slick..

the goal is not to see how little air pressure you can put in a slick, the object is to have as much air in the tire and still be able to 60'. remember a "flat" tire will slow you down at the other end.

There ya go, Derek! That's what is keeping you from getting that 9.xxx. :)
Air 'em up and get rid of some of that rolling resistance. :)

power does no good when it's going up in smoke... :)
Trust me I know it's a balancing act with the tire pressure, just sounds high for a slick..
Most i've ever run was 13...

tire pressure is dictated by a number of things. Track condition, car weight, air quality, rearend, Horse power ect... My tire pressure goes up and down even between runs or lanes I run in depending on the track. Take sunshine for example. That track basically sucks! one night you'll go there and the rubber on the track is chopped up or non exsistant, the next night the left lane could be stickyer than the right, it's a crap shoot. but here's what I normal do to determine the proper tire pressure for a race. I make my first run with 12psi on ET drag slicks. then I check my 60' time. if it's down then I must be spinning, if it's up then the tire psi is good. I have run with presure as low as 9psi and as high as 14psi. I make my base runs to dial in my car. Remember you can dial in your HP as well to any given conditions out there. younever want to go really low in PSI, when I run with 9 psi the car get real loose at the top end, altough it feels like the doors are going to fly off off the line, it's pretty dangerious at the top end. So sometimes I take my timing down to lower my HP so I can run a safe tire presure. but if there is $$ on the line then no holds barred.
The best advice I think on this subject it to start a log book, Record your best times, tire PSi, timing advance carb set up, air quality, temperature ect.. then use that as your bases for setting up the car. Remember all cars react diferently based on the cars setup and HP. No two cars I have ever raced have used the same set ups exsactly.
Good luck with finding the right pressure for you ride and remember if you never break your car then your not letting the big dog eat and if you lower your psi to pull harder out of the hole, you better have a strong rearend or AAA to get you home.
Happy raceing

I've just been running 20psi street/strip on Nitto D/R's. Works well and I don't have to air them back up. :dunno:
