View Full Version : Parts Request
rb70383
08-23-2002, 01:27 AM
Since I am coming down to FL in a while and the yards seem to bo good every now and then, I can hit the yards and see what is out there and bring it back with us. So make some requests here and I'll see what I can find. I might take a drive out there tomorrow for a looky see.
A parts request for me is if anyone sees any 16" pumpers. I got one side now and need the other side. I think or I have one of each. :dunno: They would look good on the GLH wannabe.

hmmmm
could really use a posi rear end for the truck
And some 15x7 wheels, preferably steelies.
A front bumper may not be a bad idea either.

A stockish bumper? on the 15x7's gonna mainly be cop wheels. IF however I find a old Ramcharger with the 15x8 steels, hmmm might have to fight me for em :D. I should be going out there Wed coming up. I'll make a list of whats out there. Anyone been to Copher's recently?

so here's my idea... a few small things just to take the edge off a bone stock slow neon...
DOHC Muff

Hot/Humid air intake
MP ECU
Should make quite a big improvement when starting at stock, right?

maybe plug wires and index the spark plugs also. Could also degree the cam also. all work but not really tearing into the engine. Most are labor parts.
FearThe4Doors
08-25-2002, 04:55 AM
what would i degree the cam to? You mean like advance or retard it a few degrees?
rb70383
08-25-2002, 05:03 AM
Yip like installing it to the manufactured centerline. Might have to do a little research though. Not sure of the centerline and/or degree it and run it at the track.
FearThe4Doors
08-25-2002, 05:04 AM
oh... so run it at 0 degrees?
But they arent set at 0 really from the factory.. so i'll have to take some offset keys and put it to 0?
rb70383

It actually depends on the manufacutring tolerances of the cam and all. Thats why you use a degree wheel and dial indicator.

BOB, a stock bumper would be fine if it is dirt ass cheap, otherwise don't worry about it. 4 stock matching wheels wider that 15x6 would be nice, once again must be dirt ass cheap.

maybe you can bring back some goodies from Neil E....
- 1998 2.0 DOHC Neon Cylinder head, includes valves, cams &
sprockets, etc, (no lifters or followers) has roughly 20k miles on
it. Makes for a good replacement, or basis for 2.2/2.5 16v project!
$145
- 2001 PT Cruiser engine. Has 14 miles on it. Has a bad rod bearing.
I haven't checked, but the knock was so light, I do not think the
crank is hurt (I will check it). Has the new style PT DOHC head, with
larger exhaust ports. Is complete from coil to pan. Has most of the
sensors, injectors, wiring, hoses, etc. Everything you need, will
make a good basis for a turbo engine! Make Offer!!
- 2001 Neon R/T Active Intake Manifold. This is a two piece aluminum
intake used on 2001 R/T's with two sets of runner, similar to what
has been used on Ford Taurus SHO's, to give plenty of low end, and
lots of high end pull. Both halves are brand new, as is the actuator
motor, which is currently made out of unobtanium. Originally designed
for a SOHC engine, can easily be adapted for DOHC by drilling a few
mounting holes. My plan was to use this on a 2.4l Turbo engine to
help with turbo lag. Control would be easy, using a MSD RPM
Actrivated Switch. $450

ok l0r1 and 808, what kind of prices do you guys get trannys for out there? I may need a neon 5spd, shifter, cables, and clutch pedel assembly. Oh, also the ECU.. which reminds me. Do you guys know of any huge differences between the auto and 5-spd ECUs?

Buddy Christ
09-04-2002, 11:55 PM
also- the only other major issue i can think of is the neutral safety switch. How are the 5-spds setup? or dont they have such a thing? 8r14n? 808? L0r1?

and do you know of any people that did an auto-->5spd swap? I'm sure many have.
CrazyMoparGirl
09-05-2002, 12:16 AM
I think the lock up part is right. As far as a nuetral safety switch I didn't have one, I had a clutch switch which was on the clutch pedal. I don't know anyone personally that has done the conversion. I have seen it posted at www.neons.org , I'd look it up right now but I feel like 1,000 miles of bad road. Honestly as far as PCM and Cables go, get aftermarket, expensive but worth it. All the Neons I have found so far are auto's. We are going back to the junkyard tomorrow (9/5/02) when I get off of work. I can see you needing, flywheel clutch, I have a brand new stock one already, tranny, shifter assembly and pedals. If I locate all of that I'll let you know. MauRICE, I will check on the wiring harness and ecu for you tomorrow as well. Anybody need anything off of a Rampage? just curious cause there was a black one in the yard last time, I may need to hide some parts for myself :D

depends which way you're asking ;)
actually I have quite abit of flexibility. I do have kiddo in school from 6am to 6 pm and a babysitter until 10 pm. 808 only works 3 -4 days per week and if needed they can adjust his hours as needed. And my Mom is going to be moving out here so I will have a 24/7 sitter for kiddo then, till then she could stay at my moms.

I dunno. For some reason if the pays almost the same, I'd be the ticket person. At least you're not stuck with the people in an enclosed area, you only have to take the ticket and flick em off.
But then again, I don't really like people.
