View Full Version : my auto-x results
in case anyone is interested...here are some results from the auto-x i attended in bristol connecticut.
and unless all 7 of the wrx guys couldn't drive, i wasn't impressed. i rode in one at the end of the day during dollar runs and they push through every corner. also, with shitty tires and no traction i was only 2 seconds behind the fastest wrx...and from what i had heard i thought these cars were legendary at the auto-x.
also, the ftd belongs to mark daddio...who drives a turbo neon. he has a 2.4 liter mexican intrepid motor and his car is fast as hell. (this motor will also be in the 2003 pt cruiser) he was also a national champion last year...and can drive as well as anyone i've ever seen. check scca.org and put in a search for his name...you'll see his results.
anyway...here's the link...

Daddio is AMAZING. Quite possibly the best driver in Solo 2 right now. Many people are picking him to win Street Mod this year in that Neon. This was the first year of the 2.4L and the turbo, as he won DSP last year in the same car.
WRXs do well in D-stock, course dependent, and then in Street Mod. They havent proven themselves yet as very fast in STX trim.
We'll see about that ;)
WRX's are very driver dependant. and your right.. they do push alot.

I didn't seem to have too much trouble doing decent in STX in a WRX. :p

hmm, I didn't seam to have many problems with them at my last autox, oh wait there weren't any there!
but anyways at the one before that there was and I know I beat 3 of the drivers.
yes, i would agree, daddio is amazing. i talked with him after the event and he had a lot of interesting things to say.
he said progressive springs are worthless on the auto-x course and explained why which made a lot of sense.
anyone know where i can pick up a set of non-progressive springs for my 92dx hatchback?
and zate, you better watch out, i rode in a wrx and my car was only slightly slower and that was with shitty tires. falken's are arriving tomorrow and i'll be in florida on the 8th so hopefully we'll see each other at the track.
gotta love competition, friendly or not...hahhaha
oh, and zate...you'll find this interesting. this kid who was a really shitty driver and kept going off course had an auto-wrx. i was talking to all of the wrx drivers and they said the auto-wrx has a much more advanced 4wd system.

Wow, they have some severly misinformed people up there in your neck of the woods.
like 6 of them agreed that the 4wd system is more advanced and it was explained to me. however, i didn't pay any attention althuogh i trust their judgement. the reason, because a guy driving a lancer evo5 was also there comparing the 4wd system on the lancer to that of the auto-wrx's.
so i'm 99% sure the automatic wrx's have a different and more advanced 4wd system. i will be at an auto-x on sunday and find an article online to post for everyone to see explaining this.
what are you saying leslie? that the wrx's (auto or manual) all have the same 4wd system?
i know some things about honda's...not subaru's...

Doing "decent" and winning Nationally are different. The E30 M3 is the car for STX, in my opinion.
Any opinions i have on cars being competitive or not is based upon if the car is competitive on a National level. Wins on the local level are like saying i should be in the NBA since i just owned a pickup b-ball game at the local YMCA.
they do have a different AWD system..i wouldnt call it more advanced.. or better..
the WRXisnt the be all and end all of STX cars and i will likely end up in SM .. but.. lets just see what happens by next AutoX ..i might have my brakes and springs done by then ;)

I have a 97 hatch and I have no idea. Pretty much EVERYTHING made for your/my car is progressive. If you had a neon you could buy non progressive springs with several different spring rates at the Dodge dealer. Mopar performance owns you.
