You can make your own A/F guage that reads like a voltmeter instead of one that uses LED bars. Probably a lot more accurate for tuning your A/F with a turbo.

What you could do is build one of these and use it combination with a Dawes A/F. That would be trick and would have great dual purpose use. A/F at a glance or A/F for fine tuning.

this sounds like the conversation i had with you earlier... lol

Well, if you build your own using LED's wouldn't you know what Voltages the LED's would turn on at?

you also can get a digital multimeter and hook it to the o2 signal wire and get the voltage if you wanna be cheap.. err.. dodge

I made a 4 led one, that turned on an led at a specific V. worked good cost a whole ~$5

Well in my eyes the Dawes is good enough, but with the voltage A/F too you can tell when you are starting to run out of fuel easier. Like say for example you are sunning a Dawes and you are green lighting at WOT (assuming green is stoich on a Dawes), this doesn't really tell you exactly where you are in that safety range, you could be sitting at the edge. Then say you turn up the boost some and your Dawes A/F starts lighting the lean LED at WOT. If you had a voltage A/F then you would have known before you even attempted to add some boost that you were going to need more fuel than you have.

You could use a normal A/F LED display besides a Dawes but most of them have LED's out the yin yang. Like my Autometer A/F, it has at least 20 LED's, there is no way I would try and count them while driving. I just look to see what color is lit and I can also tell wher my A/F is relatively.

And yes Jeff we were talking about this the other day, sort of. Actually we were talkign about your dash and where you mounted all the guages, and you said you used the Dawes at a glance and had another one for more precise tuning.

Also just using either 4 or 5 leds you can mount them directky in the dash for a stealthier look. Or just mount that LCD display in the dash. or on top and have it show up on the window like a HUD. I seen another one where you can use leds to indicat when an extra injector turns on at a diff voltage and will also tell you where you're AF is at. That way it automatically compensates.

Yes I have seen that extra injector controller too. The guy with the twin turbo shadow made it, you can get the schematics on his site www.omniturbo.com or something like that. Thats pretty trick little device, I would probably build one if I were to use extra injectors.

Hell even better idea, make that extra injector controller and the numeric A/F guage onto one board. Then you won't even need another A/F :D

Trust me he would do that anyways just to save room and time.

I got that exact A\F gauge. I never had a faster reading, more accurate A\F gauge. Well worth the money I spent when he used to sell them.

Thats how I do it.

I would much rather read 0.8912 Volts than try to decipher an LED line.

Also, the resolution from a multimeter is much greater than for any of the lighted meters. Even the Dawes is only within 0.03 V. (i.e., if the amber light is lit, you could have anywhere between 0.87 and 0.90 V).

Yip That is what I would do also. I am going to use the display also. If someone HAD TO HAVE the LEDs, I would use the display to make sure the LEDs are calibrated and correct, then you should be good to go using just the LEDs.

Yup and thats why I posted this because you can put it together and package it anyway you want without velcroing a multimeter to your dash, and get the same accuracy.

I am going to make one of these with a extra injector controller (the one off omniturbo.com) on the same board eventually.

If I had a choice between an EGT gauge or an O2 voltage gauge, Id take the EGT anyday.

But, for the extra 5 ounces of weight, you should have both. If youve got a turbo Dodge, ya aitn gotta worry so much about weight! Ist not like you are making 96 ft lb of torque!

I agree you can't go wrong with both, it is the safest and best way.

LOL yeah thats me just generally complaining about nothing. Seriously though I am not sure whether I am aiming to build a monster or just a nice reliable, and fairly quick car. I think I'll be happy with low 14's high 13's, which is much faster than it will run now.

CrazyMoparGirl

regardless, Id have both. Keep in mind I'm the person that will put gauges on any car
