Maybe they should get together with renault. They've supposedly had a electronically controlled valve engine for the last couple of years in f1.

redline was over 14,000 RPM. Supposidly can run 14:1 compression on pump gas. No oil in the head. No valve clacking. I could see it now, just take a die grinder and make the holes/slots in the spherical things bigger.. that would be the same as camming and porting the thing.

What makes them also so not produced yet, was some special rotary seal used. Remember a moving surface now has to seal in compression and a big bang. It was a one off seal for this engine, either titanium, ceramic or some other material, just cant think of it now. :(

A few people have, it's called camless engines with valve train. :D you should do a search in General Car chat for a thread on that subject. I also posted a link to the article. If you are really bored that is.
