major improvement

went to bradenton motorpark today for the 2nd time. Today it was sunday runday. grudge match and test and tune. my 1st time there ran a pathetic 14.013 at 100.01mph that was completely stock. since then i have done the free ram air mod, basically cutting away a bunch of plastic that was blocking a ton of air. it worked really well. today i had a best time of 13.477 @ 105.23. :D thats a huge improvement for a free modification. plus the weather was better today.

Not to be a smart ass, but .5 sec from the free ram air mod? Maybe everything just went the right way, but I can't see a .5 sec gain from that. Hell, I can't see any more than .1, if that. I'd say you just drove the car better this time, 6 speed? Anyways, congrats on the improvement. :bigthumb:

ya, it was probably had to do with several factors, 1. the free ram air mod, 2. better weather, 3. I took out the spare tire and jack. 4. Better at drag racing now.(ive done it twice now). oh and no, my car is an A4. with stock GY eagle F1's shitty 60' times a best of 2.10, the car just hauls ass! :D

no, I think I got a solid ass whoopin from 2 imports! Mr 2 beat me even though after watching the video he left like on the first light of the tree, guess he was really anxious, doesnt matter, he would of beat me anyways. that car is bad ass, ugly, but none the less, very fast! I got beat even worse by some tiny little white, (I think it was a mirage?) I think he ran in the 10s or 11s. I knew I was in trouble when I saw him with a helmet on. I definitely do not consider mr 2's eclipse rice, never would of have. what i consider rice, just like what most people consider, is the big fart tip, slammed, wing, and the stupid ass stickers. His is a really nice "sleeper" Im sure he could make some serious money hustleing with that car, cause you would never know it was so fast. I didnt get to much of a chance to check out these rides, but really curious on the mods that have been done to make em so fast without n2o.

That Mirage belongs to a friend of mine and although it is very fast, is not as fast as Mr 2s car. I figured you got a hell of a surprise out of that. The car ran 3 times that day. 12.4 @ 111 all 3 times.

What makes those cars so fast is no big secret. It a Turbocharger. I don't know why Nitrous is the first thing that comes to mind for you. It seems Turbos escape you. In a couple different ways. ;)

Actually Most imports that are fast have power adders, weather it be supercharger, turbos, or nitrous. most of them just happen to use the nitrous, because its trendy in the sport compact scene and fairly cheap. I happen to see a bunch of ricers runnin around town ecspecially in the brandon area that probably couldnt even cut a 15.0 at the track. they are the ones that really piss me off. about the 300 zx, I didnt know he was a member of this board, if i did, I would of raced him. and for the dsm, sure I will be there to race ya, no doubt about that.

As for racing the 300ZX (Ztuner), do u only race members from this board ?? U simply didn't race him cuz he was cutting 13.1's. would've done no good to your video collection. (Mr2) to come race u. U seemed surprised by the 'lil white car & MR2. They all belong to the DSM club. I dont launch to well so of course I am much more competitive in the 1/4. is sunshine better than lakeland? im a little closer to lakeland track. its also an 1/8th. I raced a viper RT out at bradenton today, he got me by about 7 car lengths. I dont know what he ran that particlar time, but the other times he was between 12.90 and 12.97 (it was 94 degrees today at the track) even though its not that fast for a 80k car, they are still bad ass!

I have read all of posts to date on this topic and I agree with some of what SS-ricekilla says. If you drive a car that looks like it can do 12secs then it should do 12secs. I don't care if it's domestic or import. On the other hand if you think that an N/A 4 banger can't beat a V8 you fall into the, and I quote from SS-ricekilla "domestic drivers have mullets" category. Looks aren't everything and sometimes they are what you make them. That is just something I wanted to share. I have seen countless people in all types of cars look and laugh or tell me that I shouldn't be racing my car. 9 out of 10 are behind me at the finish. Don't get me wrong. I don't own a super fast car (yet) :burnout:. But the minute you discount the guy next to you he makes you look stupid.

cykociv, thats damn fast for a civic, even if you did have to swap out the entire engine. about lakeland, If i pay money to race my car the traps speed better be accurate! 2-5 weeks and your car will be ready mod mat, thats cool, I will definitely be in the 12's by then, if im not right now, I will have nitto drag radials by then for sure. maybe you can run me with a 50 shot. any more than that, im toast! hell we can run both ways, bottle and no bottle, but if I had nitrous, i wouldnt race with out it, I like to use every resouce i have. I have and had stock headers stock h-pipe and the stock cat back when ran I ran 13.3.everything you see in my sig is what it took 2 get a 13.3 but there is a 13.2 or 13.1 with my mods.i just didnt get a good 60/ft when i ran 13.3. oh and why are you going ford?

im not speaking for blacklt1 or anything but he probably just wants something different. I like fords just as much as chevrolets. they each have such a unique feeling to them. mustangs are generally lighter than camaros but usally have less power. camaros have a certain feel to there steering than is unlike anything else. I prefer the way the mustangs sound even the 281's over the chevy lt1 or ls1's. or maybe hes going for the bad ass 2003 390hp supercharged stang :D

well about the tranny issues if you know how 2 drive and dont power shift on the spray then it will last forver.i have done 13.3 power shifting and not power shifting.on the 13.3 that i didnt power shift i didnt have as good of MPH but i had a beter 60/ft time.i wish i would have power shifted on that run.but i know of alot of people that have the same mods if not more than me and run slower times du 2 driver :D.sh*t im the only one launching a GT at 4700RPM's on nittos.

I havent heard a stock Ls1 even with headers and cat back that sounded that great to me. (I have heard a few with heads and a cam that sounded bad ass) just my opinion though. I havent heard a 281 that I didnt absolutley love the sound of. I wonder what it is exactly that makes em sound so bad ass :?: maybe its the fact that they come with true dual exhaust.... well atleast the ones I have checked out had true duals....

True duals are why they sound sweet. The Corvette has true duals and they sound sweet also with aftermarket exhaust.
There is a exhaust place that does custom work on Fbodys and you can get true duals, heard they sound sweet I think Al has them on the SS.
