i was out checking my valves/springs and i think i may have a problem.. but it seems kinda like a too soft spring.. not a stuck valve.. dammit, come home!

Which one? A weak spring can also do it. If excessively weak it can allow the valve to stay open longer by not allowing the rocker to follow the cam lobe, it would get worse with rpms. Hence the compression during cranking speeds. Since the valve is lagging the cam (not following) Duh! it would allow the mixture to escape. Keep us posted. Sorry I wasn't on. :(

#4 exhaust. When i tap it with the hammer is just seems... "soft".. more springy as others.

What you say makes sense.. but wouldnt it make a backfire noise or anything out the pipe?

i talked with my pa about it.. he agreed.. and since its the exhaust, it would be like giving it a LOT of overlap on that cyl. Rob it of tons of power he says. which fits what I thought all along... the cyl IS working, just not very hard.

looks like i'll have to do all the springs... he had S60 springs on it and i should probably switch back to regular springs since it takes a lot of power to push them. Besides, i dont have an extra S60 spring laying around.

That is kinda of contradictory. In that a weak S60 spring could have weakened to the level of a "stock" spring. Meaning if you put all stock springs in there it MIGHT NOT fix it. It can but....ya never know. The only way I could easyly see it fixing it was if you had a wild cam. High lift long duration. Then a stock tension/weakened spring would "jump" off the lobe causing the problem. I would go ahead and try it, I hope it works, but I always hope for the best, expect the worst. See if you can test that dead spring against a stock one. I am not sure that the calibrated hammer swing test would be accurate engough but fuck it its worth a shot. Just something for you to think about. :dunno: Worst case I'll help ya when we get down there. :(
