Ok what do you guys like?? (Secretly I like macs)

Currently I've got a 1.2 gig home built athlon and its not that bad with win xp, but could definitely be better.

I've been waiting as long as i possibly can to get a notebook for school and was going to get a new powerbook, or a dell. Powerbook actually comes out cheaper than the dell.

Ok point of this rant. Today was the big mac conference where they announce new products and they were supposed to update the powerbook. They didn't and I'm just fuckin pissed. Stupid fuxors make a wide screen imac but nothing to the powerbook. AAAHHHH!!! BUTT MONKEYS!!!!!!!!!

Mac.......yucko

I need to get my laptop before spring semester. UF decided the CAD lab would be better without computers, so now everyone needs there own laptop with wireless ethernet. Is USF like that?

Nope, they still have a lab. I found several cad programs that run mac osx, and if all else fails i always have my desktop.

Problem with my school is that they have too many requirements. We pretty much have to have a windows machine, plus it has to run mechanical desktop (don't know if there is a MAC version). Regardless, my opinion of MAC is not bad, but they just don't have the same software support as Windows machines, or at least thats the way it seems. Plus I am not into all the gay azz fancy color and design of the units, its a computer not a centerpiece

I agree with the software support for mac osx and engineering/architechtural disciplines, it just isn't there. I'm not sure but don't believe they have mechanical desktop, i'll have to look into that.

Now as far as everyday user, graphic designer, movie maker type person macs are probably the best for normal people. Its so easy to rip music, make a digital video and then burn it on a dvd and all the software comes with it, its amazing. They may not be the fastest like they used to, but the overall package is incredible.

Ok I promise no more macho sexist stuff.

Most affordable and one I'd get if I wanted a desktop is the emac, fast and great software, plus its $1100 with a 17" monitor. Most of the other macs you're paying for the design (new flat screen imac)

Heres a pic of the emac.

I agree, the imac is nice but I wouldn't spend that much money on it.

I've been scrimping and saving for about a year and a half to get a powerbook or dell inspiron 8200, and i just can't get over the powerbook.

I've had so many wet dreams about this thing I can't even count anymore.

Ok, emac http://www.apple.com/hardware/gallery/emac_apr2002_480.html

Everything is built into the emac, there are usb, firewire, ethernet and modem plug ins on the side, but thats it, no case. The whole computer is one piece

The powerbook is just like a regular notebook except with a wide ass screen.

And then the new imac, kinda expensive, everything, hd, processor, is in the little pod on the bottom.
