What class would I be in?

I'm trying to figure out what class I would be in. I'm thinking street prepared but am not sure. There is a picture of the car below. As for mods, I have an intake, ECU, TB, Plugs and wires. Suspension mods include strut bars front and rear, and a set of lowering springsLet me know as this has been buging me for some time now

I just did a quick review of the SCCA Solo rule book. Initially I thought you would fit in STS. But I believe that the springs and throttle body are mods not approved for STS. So that leaves Street Mod. I may be way off base on this, so don't hold me to this.

When you initially start autocrossing, the local SCCA group, Central Florida Region, has a novice class. You could start out in that class, and conpare your times with the class you car would normally compete in.

I would suggest that you look for Danny Shields at the autocrosses. Danny is a several time national champion, and is eager to share his knowledge of the sport. In addition, he has competed in Neons for several years. Danny drove a Porsche 944S last week at the Tampa fairgrounds. When Danny is not driving the 944 you can find him in a Boxster. His car number is usually #5.

I like to suggest to drivers who are just starting out in the sport to forget comparing your times with other drivers times for the first several events they drive in. I feel the most important thing to focus on is improving your own times on each run. By focusing on improving your own times, everything else will fall into place.

Yeah I know Alan, but his remarks we're from yesterday or the day before.Now if he were to admit how immature those remarks sounded and actually show a GENUINE interest in Auto-X the I would be as friendly and helpful as I can possibly be. BTW, FLNeonRT I saw you parked at the FSF just spectating...Once you pay the initial SCCA dues, is $20 really that much for a day of safe, legal and the absolute most fun driving experience ever??? Think about if you messed up on the street or someone cut you off, or an elderly person (this is FL, we're full of them) pulls out in front of you. Death, destruction of your prized car (and don't try to pass it off like it's just a car...I know you love that car) mountains of tickets, court costs, lawyer costs, INSURANCE costs (those are always the worst). I have a customer who, when he was 18, flipped his car while being a jackass on the streets. His 17 year old best friend and passenger was killed. He's now 20 something and it still haunts him today.
That's really cheaper than the $20 you have to throw down on Sunday????? BTW, sorry, I don't have a handbook handy so I can't tell you what class you would be in.

I just read the other thread where everyone else jumpd him for his remarks and I read his reply. I hope it was sincere, if it was, sorry I jumped on you. If it wasn't, then I'm not. You said you get frustrated when people think of your age and make assumptions and stereotype you. Well, prove them wrong. Show them you are mature. Take away all the bullshit of street racing, all the penalties, fines, jail time thanks to the new law, police, courts and throw all that crap out the window for one minute. I'm not rich, I'm a broke ass college student. My parents want to teach me a lesson so I get to pay for almost everything. I also work for them, in a dry cleaners. It's a shitty job but at least I get somewhat of a paycheck. I make sure I've got my $20 just for the FSF events, BTW which are scheduled once a month up until September so far. I'm fairly sure the monthly trend will continue. I know you hurt your back, maybe you are still unemployed, I don't know. I'm not judging you or being condescending, I'm trying to plead a point. Be smart dude, I would rather become your friend and have friendly competitions at the fairgrounds than hear of how your life got ruined while playing on the streets.

Thank you all for the kind words and yes, I was sincere (?) when I apologized. I had no right to speak of something that I had never experienced. And yes, you are right, I "LOVE" my car. I don't think anyone that builds there car up for show or go will not say the same thing. I just want a car I can enjoy. I don't enjoy drag racing my car. I would rather help my friend build his SR20DET in his 240SX then race my own car on the strip. However, I do like road racing and you are correct, auto cross is, so far, the only legal place to raod race as fast as you can and not worry about drifting wide on a turn or cutting a corner w/ out bending a wheel or worse, wrecking the whole car. That is actually what atracted me to the sport. I'd rather have a car that sticks to a turn then have one that does 10's in the 1/4. (Scratch that, I'd like the same car to do both.) I had gone to a previous race at Valencia College and after getting lost for 2 hours, I finally found the right campus. I tend to like the higher speed coarses but I would bet that you get a better feel of your own car on a tight coarse. Keep in mind while you read this, I haven't done this yet so I may be wrong in assumptions. Forgive me. Like I said. I enjoy meeting new people and enjoy wrenching on cars and finding every bit of performance I can wether it be from the engine or the suspension. I am going to try and start coming out more often and see if I can drag some friends along. I am always willing to lend a hand if someone needs help so just watch for my car around Tampa and at the events and please introduce yourself.

All of us did stupid shit on the streets when we were your age so don't let our flames and criticisms get you down. I certainly looks like you have the right attitude so welcome to the autocross scene.

Even if you are too broke to attend, the more spectators the better. That way if we all can't get good times we can at least entertain a large audience.

I know we will all look forward to seeing you on the track if it is within your budget next time around.

Dave, I am pretty sure springs are allowed in Street Prepared.
As far as I know... ANY intake modifications are allowed, any exhaust modifications are allowed, the ECU may be reporgrammed, any ingition modification is allowed, suspensions must maintain original mounting points but shocks, struts and springs are replaceable with aftermarket alternatives... Strut bars are allowed as long as they only travel transversely from strut/shock tower to strut/shock tower and are bolted in.

Basically, ANY bolt-on. No internal modification of the engine unless allowed by the update/backdate rule. I would not worry anyhow, not like you're competing divisionally or nationally where people will ACTUALLY protest.

Here Novice is allowed for 3 events or a trophy in novice, whichever comes first.

there is no REAL DSP-N, we don't run it. And 400HP930 regional supplemental rules are allowed per SCCA so to make all categories fit, etc. We just run Novice here with no class distinction. He can put DSPN on his window all he wants, but it will just be scored as N.

youre in DSP according to the mods you've written here...however, if anyone is going to be REALLY picky, then youre actually in SM. Sideskirts are illegal in all the SP classes. Infact, they might throw you beyond SM, but nobody in CFR is going to protest you.
