Alabama Viper meets Florida MR2

Was in Alabama for the weekend at the Southeast MR2 meet. I was cruising around with other fellow MR2ers and ran accross a pair of Vipers a GTS and an R/T 10. I decided to press my luck. I rev on the GTS a bit get his attention and we end up at a light. I look over revvin it up I hear the GTS rumblin the light turns green. I step waaaaaaay out in front and a car turns on to the road and interfears I slow down the viper finally catches up with his R/T 10 buddy trailing behind. We go around the bistandard and get to the next light the GTS lines back up next to me and the R/T 10 is behind me. I point up to the light he responds in his heavy accent You want me to step on er this time? We wait for the light it turns green I jump waaaaaay out in front again I thought I had em but at about 85 he started passing me and got me by a few cars and then I slowed it down cause the next light was coming up the RT 10 guy finally caught back up as I could see him slipping back in my rear view as I raced the GTS. Both cars followed us back to the hotel where the meet was held and I tried to arrange a race with one of our 11 sec MR2s but he declined and the vipers went on their way.

I saw a viper at the track last sat and his best time was 12.4 does that sound right? Then I got a chance to race him. I was about a 1/2 car ahead of him all the way until about the 1000 ft mark when he passed me and did a 13.3 to my 13.9 found out he missed second. :nono: Good kill though!!!!

What model viper did you run? Was it modified? The guy I ran said he ran 82mph in the 1/8th where I run 83-86mph

fear the viper after the 1/8 mile.. they have pretty long legs

I think it was a GTS it was hard top with the exhaust down the back center. He had headers 3 inch exhaust K&N and ported throttle bodys. He needs to learn how to drive it though I dont think 12.4 sounds right with those modifications or I maybe wrong.

i am obssessed(spelling?) with vipers. carbonfiberR you are right. 12.4 doesnt sound right for a viper with those mods. ive seen stock vipers run mostly 12-12.4. the quickest i have ever seen a stock viper run is 11.7. but nice run against the viper.

:haha: No stock vipers run 12-12.4 around here. I watched one run consistant low 13s at 1320 not too long ago.

These runs were done on stock pilot sports witha 1500 rpm launch the first day I owned the car(1.9 60 ft).I was a little scared of the car at first as I had heard so much about the torque.Now that Ive driven the car for 3 months I can launch with a 3 grand slip on the street and dead hook.Im sure Ill run into you sooner or later.:D and Chismoe sooner than later.

what do you have dont to your type r. i am pretty sure that is going to be my next car and was wondering what mods you had the most luck with.

What's up with the Supra?

They Supras in the body ship getting the kit put on.Its been a long wait.I set it up with the single,then pulled the motor and had the engine compartment painted black.After that,I re-installed the motor and am now having the kit installed and painted,only they are molding all the panels on so they arent bolted on.I wanted everything to flow and look natural. Heres a before pic and hopefully by the 15th of July Ill have a sweet After pic.

Unfortunately Ive just installed a Paxton NOVI 1000 and will be in Orlando to dyno on Sat.Should do 400rwhp at 6 psi.We'll see.Please stop by work as I love Z's (I had a 90 remember?)
