cars running rich
so like the title says and i have a dumb question since i don't know.
will it eventually start doing damage to the motor? i mean the cars my DD so i kinda have to drive it, and i've been driving it a decent amount since i'm looking for a job, and i wont have a new ecu till next fri. so i just wanna know if i should be worried about anything

do you have a wideband? if so how rich are u running......
besides bad gas mileage(no brainer) ive been told running WAY TOO rich can wash your cylinder walls with gas which can do damage.
i could be wrong but this is what i have been told.

don't have a wideband so not to sure, but enough to where after about 10 minutes of driving i have trouble accelarating and the car gets bogged down. don't really know how to explain how rich i'm running, cause i'm not to sure myself.
don't know if that info helps explain my situation

and if it makes a differance, it's a bone stock 420a
check plug gap and wear?may not be getting a full burn.as far as running rich if you are burning like 1/2 the fuel dumped in the cyl then the rest will mix with the oil and break it down to nothingness, then you get problems.check the oil see if it smells more like gas then oil.

i already checked the plug gap. and i'll check the oil for smell. am i to guess that if my oil smells like gas i have problems??
^The ecu in the car is "unreadable." There are so many things that can make you run rich. All you can really do at this point is check for vacuum leaks, look into ignition problems, etc...o2 sensor, coolant temperature sensor, exhaust leak pre o2 sensor, bad maf these are all things that will make it run rich..

the temp sensor is brand new, i thought i may have had an exhaust leak in the flex pipe cause it looks kind of ugly, but pretty sure i don't, same goes for the maf. now i haven't found a vacum leak, but haven't really finished looking, but the spark and ignition is good.
but he's right^^ the ecu is unreadable and i'm assumming thet computer is making it running rich, but i won't have it in till next fri so i just wanna know if i should stop running the car till i get the new ecu or is it just to hard to determine how rich i'm running without a wideband and keep the car parked anyways
