Me thinks that him running NOVICE was highly questionable... :D but hey.. he scored a trophy so he cant run novice again... now he can go beat on people in normal classes...

he didnt talk to me about previous experience and I think he DID tell Katie about it (so hes good to go IMO)... if hes driven in 3 or less events in a Solo2 without a trohy he was eligible for Novice Class...

On the same note he is now ineligible for Novice due to his victory... as Leonard said Time to play with the big (but SLOW lol) dogs.

nice win... and good job in SM Leonard. Did you see how Elliot in the NX beat the 944? A car on street tires beat a guy in a faster car on RACE TIRES... oh and that wasnt any guy... it was DANNY SHIELDS!!!! Multiclass multiyear National Champion?! Fuck Elliot is good!

Oh hes totaly fine but I still say its highly questionable :haha:

And actually I didnt do all that well in SM on sunday.. 3rd out of 4... :( Took me until my 4th run to really start to find my lines... and by then it was over... :( I think I was still overdriving the Kumhos on Sunday some as well.. not as bad as Saturday (what can I say.. it was fun!) but still some...

Man I wish I could see the course like Elliot or Danny... That would be nice.

I was placed in Novice too. My car has been recently downgraded from GS to HS since the new Altima came out and is in GS now. Rarely do I ever see any HS cars out at Autocross events anymore. I have run about 8 or 9 autocrosses so I guess its sorta unfair that I had been placed in Novice. I metioned this at sign-up but they figured since noone was going to run in HS that Id get more competition in Novice. Oh well. I should have petitioned to run in GS. That would have been more fair for me! Many newbies spanked me big time! HAHA!
Overall I think I placed 7th out of 19 in Novice and I would have placed 3rd out of 7 in GS. (If I remember correctly) Guess its all the same. Looking forward to next time.

I think we should kick that kid in the white Cvic in the butt. He must have been cheating first race my ass....and on D.O.T. rubber. He must of cut the course while no one was watching or paid off the timing people.

I wish I had been watching AFAIK there was no civic that was fast at the event. lol

uhh and HS is a class you will have competition in in Gainesville... and you will lose to a guy in a Protege... unless he breaks something.

i cant wait until I get to beat up on you guys.

and Leonard... now will you maybe listen to advice? just because I cant drive your car doesnt mean I cant feel where you can go faster... especially since thats all I have to concentrate on when I am riding along. but do listen to Jesse more than me he has a different style.

Probably not... :evil3: Ill get the stickies on the car and be having way too much fun tossing the car around to bother with trying to drive smooth....

In reality SCCA road racing experience (or even track events) does not make you a better autox driver in the least. Youre in a completely different car and one thats not setup for autocross road racing cars (when properly setup) are no designed to do transitions that well and certainly not low speed turns just as an autocross purpose built car will not handle a road course anywhere near as well as a car setup for road courses. This is from my personal experience (while not great but still a few years worth) with my cars which were setup solely for road courses vs other integras (and other cars) that Ive driven that were setup for autocross... so IMO rainmanEK should not have run any class except novice he is a good driver which is why he won but hes not a good driver due to experience in this type of event.. anyone questioning that has an obvious lack of experience driving purpose built road racing cars..

sorry just my 2cents not trying to offend anyone not even you lenny.

He was on d.o.t. rubber you jack off!!!An no he did not cheat or pay anyone off.Dont get mad just cause someone has a natural skill for something. Why dont you think about the things that you say before you say them that way you wont look like such a jack ass!!

Besides that the course was setup on Sunday morning. NOBODY had an opportunity to run it prior to competiton prior to the start of the event (save those lucky few individuals who got reruns because of the timing system...)

No matter how much people bitch about your past driving experience eric. Dave is right your a damn good driver and some people cant take they got beat. Eric is going to be a guy to watch for in upcoming autocrosses. I cant wait to run the gainesville event again just to see how eric does out there. I think we are planning on hitting the fort myers course next. The one thing i like about autocrossing is the people i meet and are involved in it are about helping eachother and giving driving tips unlike gay dragracing where most kids have a shitty attitude because they think there car is fastest car in the world. Thats all i have to say about that and we should be happy 1 of are tr members is out of novice. I cant wait till that day.

Group44...I get it...I thought it was an unusual name for a TR member. Group 44 was the racing group that campaigned Triumph TR4 and TR6 sportscars back it the 60s and 70s. The semi-famous driver Bob Tullius was normally behind the wheel of the #44 car. Okay there is my little history leson for anyone who cares. (Do I hear crickets?)

Also....I think anyone that says roadracing experience doesnt give you you a decisive advantage on a autocross course is crazy. Im sure Mario Andretti would whip my ass driving MY OWN car on a autocross track...even if he never has done it before.
The biggest equation in Auto-x is seeing the fastest line feeling the balance of the car and being able able to control the car smoothly and efficiently. These are qualities you develope in any kind of sportscar racing not just autocross.

Not to take any credit away from Eric. He just plain kicked but. No doubt to a combination of learned technique AND natural talent.

Oh yeah Shawn...I have seen that Gville Protoge in action. Youre right he would kick my but in fact he has kicked it once. My money is on him kicking your butt too and almost anyone elses butt as well HS or non HS. That dude is fast!

Jason drives the HS Protege and hes kinda a favorite for Topeka this year Jesse (whom you saw that weekend) usually drives an STS Protege and hes some sort of prodigy. Jason has been having Him co-drive the HS car while the STS car is out of commission. A few weeks ago at a Divisional event (i think) Jason was 2 sec faster on Sat and on Sunday Jesse was a sec faster than Jason.
Those two are insane.

All I need is a tranny and Ill be up there. BUT as soon as the STS protege is up I will have a chance to compare my skills to Jesse b/c I will be codriving until the Talon is complete.

This like all of my posts for the last 3 days is nothing more than post whoring.

Sorry Fastforward but I have to disagree from experience. Drag racing helps you just as much as road racing exp in autocross in every motorsports event you have to be smooth even drag racing but the driving style is so completely different they are NOTHING alike.

138MustangGT
05-21-2002, 08:28 PM
Ill be damned if Road racing doesnt help immensely in AutoX!!!
While a Solo Trials event is NOT all out raod racing it is so damn similar that its not funny. In Road racing you have moretime to set-up for a turn... in AutoX you have to find the line and hold it or be done. AutoX is alot faster paced even the REAL road racers say so.

None the less the same skills are utilized. Threshold braking threshold turning threshold acceleration. If you dont brake at the right time (in both sports) youre either too slow or youve passed the apex. If you turn too early or JERK THE FREAKING WHEEL because youre late you may as well give it your all because that run is shot. Hope you have another.
The car setups are different... in road racing you are sustaining a max G in a corner and in autoX you are smoothly transitioning under insane conditions on a crappy driving surface. There are car setup differences but if youre good at one youre inherently good at another.

Thats ALL beside the point though. If you have not driven in an autoX before you have the option of driving in the Novice class. If Juan Pablo Montoya wants to drive in novice class Id have issues because hes a professional driver but I do not think any of our guests at the last autoX got paid to drive ever.

So you do agree that roadracing does help to make a difference at the autocross.
But I really doubt that drag racing exp is going to help you AS much as roadracing exp at your local autocross. I guess it certainly couldnt hurt though.
But hey Im no expert.

No youre all wrong! Slot car experience would be the best advantage on an autocross course.

Shawn: You COULD say a lot of the same things are used in street driving.. at least I use some of them on the street.. sigh. An example a certain friend of mine that has autoxd for YEARS and won 1st place in his class at FSF.. has only placed better than 5th once so far in his SCCA club racing career.. why? becuase autox experience doesnt mean a damned thing.. sorry but in my opinion (from a very very very non hardcore autocrosser who autocrosses only because friends do.. otherwise finds it pretty boring) they are too different.. and the driving STYLE is not the same methods of braking and turning are but there are very few ways to turn a car so I in my mind that alone does not make them similiar. The only thing about the styles that are the same is that you have to be smooth and consistant and that goes for drag racing as well. I would venture to say the most autox similiar would be karting on small tracks.. lots of transitions.. but even then I wouldnt compare the two or just assume a good karter would be a good autocrosser (maybe because I have met some good karters who were not good autocrossers.. hehe)

FastForward: Can you repost pic(s) of the red Golf?

Dave-ROR I will post the Golf again if I kept the pic (digital) on my computer at home.

I thought the pictures would still be here on this forum but they are gone??!! The FSF event wasnt that long ago.
VortecFL or WRX did you guys delete that post already or something? I searched my user name to find the old post and the original FSF pics post that I started was missing entirely?

Actually...that seems to happen quite a bit. Why do the threads in this forum have such a short shelf life? while other forums are several pages long. This one seems to be less than a page in length at any given time.

THIS IS A SHOUT OUT TO ERIC.

I got third place at the FSF auto-x in my 200sx and was happy that the guy who got first was a national run-off road race....etc. and what have you!

Too bad were all out of novice but your right at least it gives us a chance to do some hop ups on the cars....and the drivers of course...

more experience and i expect everyone to do very very well...very soon!

justin you too!

I really hope that everyone will make it out to the ft. meyers event. Like i said in my seperate post lets all drive down and get there before 9:00am so we can participate in the novice program. here will get first hand instruction from national competitors for hours on end as much as you want. If there is any reason i even place at FSF its because of their program.

Thanx
peace!

[p.s. on a personal note TOM KRUETZER IS A PUSSY!] everyone tell that fuck to show up!
