will the mitsu tranny bolt up to the 2.0L from a neon? Doesnt the mitsus spin opposite of the neons?

which mitsy tranny? from a 2.0? Dunno about rotation but the engine/trans is on the opposite sides than dodge

What ever one is used with AWD. Isnt that 2.0L a very close resemmbelence (sp?) to the Chryco 2.0L?

I dont know much about the dodge 2.0. Which side is the engine on? Mitsys have the engine on the Drivers side. Still not sure of the rotation. Ask the mitsy room. Theyre cool in there. Or ill ask if you want.

Could you ask I am shy and probably not very well liked. The engine in a neon is on the pass side along with the acc belts on that side also.

The 2.0 l non turbo mitsu block is identical to the neon/
stratus 2.0. As far as rotation the engine is on the opposite
side on turbo cars (awd) and the normal side on non
turbo. The non turbo transmission is the chrysler 5 spd but
the awd is a mitsu with a different bolt pattern.

So the rotation is reveresed since its filpped around? Or is the reversing down in the tranny. How much different is the bolt pattern on awd setups wont fit on the back of a 2.4L/2.0L? Is the turbo 2.0L block/head completely different or are there similarities? AWD GLH

You have no idea how many times Ive thought of that.
Mwahahah!!
The reversing seems to be done in the tranny in the turbo
cars. (Non turbo are just like a neon slight differences in
head but same block tranny engine on passenger side).
Ive been looking at pictures havent seen one in person
but there is definitely another shaft in the transmission
itself and the bolt pattern looks completly different. Ill look
more into the turbo head but the block is definitely different.
The awd cars also have a transfer case attached to the back
of the tranny which is the weak link in those cars with some
serious torque. Its even worse in the 3000gt/stealth due to
the weight of the cars.

Of course I wont say its impossible but it looks rather
difficult. An awd omni wont be easy either so you know
what youre getting into. Id have to say an early awd eclipse/
talon would be your best place to start it just might be a little
more difficult to get them to line up then a straight bolt in.

Sometimes Bob and I dont see eye to eye well acrually never he is 6 taller than me anyways I thought about using the VW AWD set up from earlier models. They do have a car that is close to the same size. The hardest thing I can think besides the obvious bolting it under the car would be the adapter plate for the tranny. I dont know any machinists that would be helpful in that sense. But I know a handy welder for the suspension adaptation.

Maybe Im shooting blanks here (that never happens to me in real life) but what about the awd caravans??? I have absolutely no idea about them though.
Food for thought previously mentioned awd vws mazda 323 gtx (small though not sure about reliability) any subaru chevy awd astros/syclonetyphoon toyota all tracs honda awd station wagon mazda mpvs and Im sure there are more that could be found at a junkyard these are just a few that come to mind that would be somewhat affordable to obtain(except the syclone/typhoon).

AWD Caravans wont work.. they used the 3.3 or something. Totally different bellhousing pattern. Also they are pretty weak and if one piece breaks on the system its pretty much all junk.. and very hard to find. Many have considerd this already.
Im trying to figure out what you guys are talking about with Mitsu engine configs and rotations. ALL mitsy 2.0s have the engine on the Driver side.. N/A.. turbo.. and AWD Turbo. As far as rotations.. i dont know.

Rather than trying to mount a whole different transmission is there anyway to mount just a transfer case to the tranny currently in the car? Or all these transfer cases you are talking about cast into the transmission casing?

Jeff for the rotation thing the engine is turnewd 180 as compared to the neon/Omni. Jeff should know this.....Shelby did a AWD Daytona. Weismann transmissions made a torque splitter that bolts up to the back (side?) of the tranny. They also used a Dana 30 from the front end of the 4wd Eagles (80s) version mounted solidly to the frame and made a type of independent suspension for the rear. Just using an existing AWD setup would be easier:haha: then trying to fab up something from like junkyard wars.

Yeah i have the Hot Rod mag with the 4WD daytona here. I think if i were to make a AWD dodge id use Mitsy parts since youll be fabbing up everything anyway. But then since you know what idea i have on the back burner... id just use a 4G63 to make life a little easier. But then id just use a DSM body. :D
Next thing you know there would be 2 yellow AWD Mirages around!

What about the Shock factor of a GLH doing 4 wheel donuts like that black Turbo VW in the video section!!
FearThe4Doors
04-29-2002, 04:09 AM
oh theres no doubt that would own! But i wouldnt get into that kind of project. If I would though.. id mount another 2.5 in the hatch like the kid with the CRX

Where would the NAWZ go then??

I like the VW options also. Dont worry I am checking/reasearching both way. I back tracked the Turbo VW video and got to their page. Nice VW/Audis there..
