ok

tonight i visited the local drag strip aka orlando speed world aka the track that hasnt been prepped in 50 years except for fast ford weekends and top fuel events. yeah every car out there seems to run like shit except the bikes and the slicked pro cars.

anyways after waiting in the 20 min line of ricers to get some runs in and basically just practice launching since i dont have much care about what my 2.4L motor can do i need some help.

my r/t is pretty good and my best was .523 so i think i have that down...

ok well backtrack...i have a 240 rwd...i know a burnout doesnt do much for a slow car such as mine with General radial tires on it (205/55-16 and they dont stick for shit cuz theyre bald!) how is a decent burnout performed without the use of a line lock?

i usually just rev it up and dump the clutch kinda easily i dont like to break things yet and i get a little spin going but is there a way to keep it spinning for a good 2-3 sec im looking for that (like my 60 i spin longer there than i do in the burnout) i dont drive through the water box either.

should i back into the water box and try a burnout? i dont necessarily need to do this now but eventually when im running full slicks im going to need to know how to drive.

also i go on 3rd yellow light on the tree and i slip the clutch from about 2000rpm which is where most 240 drivers with kas go from and i have found it is about best...so i give it a good quick slip and feather it somewhat but im still pulling 2.5 60 times!?!?!

i know i need new tires for the rear and possibly bigger but do i need practice (lots!) or is there a better technique?

TIA

all i was running with was MAFs adapter and cone filter full interior tools and muffler in trunk (dorm - i have no place to put shit) and open muffler from axle-back (which i found makes no difference besides noise).

ok for one you dont need to burn those tires at all heating them up will actualy make them perform worse. They are made out of a different compound then drag radial or competition tires. With slicks by all means heat those bad boys up

try slipping the clutch out of the whole dont let it allt he way out untill you hook up.. or maybe lower what your dropping the cluch at. Its all about just being comfortable with your own car and know how it acts out of the whole. just gonna take trial and error... Drag strip is the popular place to be especialy because cops are cracking down so hard... We need a strip in Tampa BAD!
