Actually Ive been talking with Frank about what we need to do to pull some events together at the Fairgrounds. Ive been talking with him via email about helping with some of the work so we can have some events down here. Ill keep you guys updated as to what comes of it.

And please if any of you would be willing to help speak up. Mark Leon used to organize these things and do alot of the work and he has moved to Atlanta there is definitely a void that needs to be filled.

swamped with work but Ill lend a hand if its not too involved. Toss out some things you need help with. Im sure there are enough people here that are willing to help and get some SCCA events closer to home.

Jeremy

You outta run! I went to my first autox (just to watch). After watching the FIRST car run I wanted to run too. Unfortunately registration and tech were closed so I was SOL. So I had to wait FOREVER (it felt like it) for another event. If you want to check it out first I totaly understand but Im warning you... Just come on a Saturday to watch so you can cancel everything you had planned for Sunday to come run. :) Dont worry about being inexperienced. You would run novice your first few events and lots of people are willing to give you advice.

Its loads of fun and you get to see crazy people like me slide across the finish line at 65 mph!

Ill let you all know what kind of help we need as soon as Frank tells me. :)

Frank left LOL!!! NOT A CHANCE!

We need help from local-type people who can show up early to work registration (mainly to hand out armbands and have people sign safety waiver) and to set-up the course (actions like placing cones setting up the timing equipment and sweeping the course). These fun things start at like 0730 so people like me coming from Gainesville just cant be there that early.
AND people who can stay late to clean up put stuff away etc.

If all of you guys who have offered to help in the past actually show up to do stuff like this the event organizers will be ecstatic and keep running monthly events.

The best thing with showing up early and staying late is THAT IS YOUR WORKER ASSIGNMENT!!! You will not need to do any other work assignment during the race! That is always fun.

Ill be at every event probably in the capacity of some chief. And Ill be there rather early. (On Tampa race weekends I stay at my in-laws in Lakeland)

Dont think for one minute I was singling anyone out or scolding anyone.
I was just saying what jobs there are to do.
in re: Vortec sounded a little defensive and I didnt mean for there to be any type of need for that. if you didnt mean to sound that way then cool

everyone appreciates help. And youre not doing it to say thanks youre doing it for the same reason those who MAKE the events do it... BECAUSE WE LOVE RACING.

LOVE RACING shuck cones build events have fun...
Go us!

Its the least you can do after drifting into them.
:haha::haha::haha:

Im with Taylor though if I can lend a hand I will. Getting there earlier is doable so long as its a local event and not Gainesville.
