how cold is "cold as f@#$"

what other mods do you have done to it to provide such a fucking cold operating temp?

With all of the problems you have had with this motor, it makes me wonder why got fucked up on the install. It is like you are just guessing what might be the problem, throwing money and parts at it and hoping for the best. If you really want to throw 15 bucks away, hit up my paypal 240phil@gmail.com seriously, I could use some gas money.

oh, and FYI, this is FLORIDA. half of the cars on the road don't have thermostats in them. The ambient air is hot enough to not cause a problem... hell, even in the winter, the only thing it effects is that it takes a few more minutes to warm up...

They are the same. I've never heard about anyone complaining their car runs too cold...

are you seriously trying to call me out on TR?!

what the fuck

use some god damn common sense.
It is florida. The past few months, we have been in the 90s, consistently. With those air temps, your radiator isn't going to get cold enough to make your motor run too cold. Fuck, even in the god damn winter fucking time, it doesn't get fucking cold enough to cause an issue. I'd bet that over half of the cars on TR don't have a thermostat in them at all and they don't seem to have a problem with running too cold. The thermostat isn't going to force your engine to maintain temps. It helps get the motor up to operating temp more quickly as it is using more fuel, making less power, and dumping more pollution out the tail pipe while running below that temperature range. Even if it was stuck open, it wouldn't cause that big of a problem. Especially a boosted one. Don't know if you realize it or not, but a fucking turbo causes more heat. You cannot compress air without generating more heat. A busted thermostat would make the car run hotter, as in, the thermostat was stuck and wouldn't open far enough to let enough coolant pass to cool the engine, and/or it would cause the engine to overheat if it was stuck closed enough to not let any, or just a minimal amount, of coolant pass.
IF and it is a big IF you are actually running too cold, then you have issues elsewhere that you need to sort out. As it was mentioned earlier in the thread, your temp sensor is probably skewed. Shit, your gauge might just be fucked. From your other posts about your engine running like shit covered balls, I'd be willing to bet that you have sensor issues. If your motor is at operating temp and your ECU thinks it is still cold, it is going to set the spark time and the injector cycles as if it was cold. It will also bounce the idle up, which didn't you say you thought the idle was high.. You really want to see if you have having cooling problems, let the car idle for 20 minutes. Pop the hood and put your hands on the valve cover. It should be hot as balls. If it is, then you know that it is a sensor issue, the sensor could be bad, it could have crap built up on it from the gunk floating around your coolant passages, the wire could be fucked, the plug could have come loose...

If I was your "SR pro" knowing the way you are, I would have told you whatever you wanted to hear just to get you to shut up and go away. You ask a question and wait for someone to agree with your idea, no matter how wrong it might be. You don't give a fuck what anyone else has to say, unless it agrees with what you thought in the first place. Don't ask questions if you already know the answers.
