Saleen 281 are SLOW

Well we were all at the light (sihatch zorro and some other people at the light) a brand spankin new 281 Saleen pulls up behind me. Him and his girl were talkin shit about imports suck this and that. Of course i dont here non of this cause my radio was up. i turned down my radio and heard Dont be afraid of the 4doors lol i was like great. well they laugh at me light turns green and i take off like a bat out of hell. then and there he knew i wasnt a fuckin joke. i slow down (got way to squirly and fast) and he then decided to push and do a ricer flyby :thumbdown that shit was sooooooooo slow. i say fuck that :mullet:

i a few min later who do we run into agait the 281 himself. well i teased him for a bit he decideds to get on it i smash the gas and instantly pull like 2 cars on him he slows down. this happens like 2-3 times

Well i get a call from zach sayin Cop Cop Cop im like fuck we stop at the light i see the cop in the lane next knowing he knows i was goin ungodly fast i make a quick turn onto fletcher like 3 secs later the lights come on but instead of pulling me over he pulls over some guy in an eclpise with altezza tails. God loves me!

Saleen 281 = SLOW

The thing about Saleens is some are fast some are not so fast. Depends on the model. The basic ones have suspension and body stuff but almost nothing done to the stock 281 engine.

And it is super difficult to tell them apart as well. At least the s281-E will be nonstandard colors. I beat the snot out of a supercharged one on the highway a week ago and didnt even know it was supercharged until I squinted at the tiny embalem on the back trunk.

dude i was next to them at the first light. i told them (the dude and his girl) we have a run for them and i pionted to the sabri mobile his woman said oh honey its a saleen! we all laughed at her and then she started talking trash for her man. well then the light turned green and like sabri said he took off. the guy at first didnt know what was going on he thought it was all a joke until sabri dropped the hammer this face was like fuck me thats fast. as i passed him i told him he just didnt know. it was funny as hell.:haha::haha::haha:

281s arent exactly big V8s but they can be decently quick :)

Good kill. Ya there are slow but arent designed for drag racing. They have stiff as hell suspension for road coarse and 18 rims. They baseline saleens probably run low 14s. -Mark

There is the small emblem on the trunk. Also keep a lookout for a center mounted guage pod up on the very top/center of the dash. The only 99-up cars with these are the Saleens with the blowers unless someone put it there aftermarket.

Actually the E is for Extreme. It has the same blower as the S281 supercharged versions only with more boost and goodies. :D Anyway I just cruised by Brandon Ford the other day and saw several non-supercharged S281s with gauge pods in the middle of the dash.

The largest thing that hinders the S281s that are supercharged is the rear gear. Saleen had to put a 3.08 rear gear set in the car to get it to pass EPA milage tests where you can get anywhere from a 3.27 to a 3.73 in the n/a versions. As a result they can be quite doggy and end up only minorly faster than the n/a versions. I know of quite a few running around with no real concern of gas milage if you know what I am stepping in. One such car has the following:
12psi pulley
longtube headers no cats
3.73 rear gears
Nitto Drag radials
a few misc mods
11 second time slip

Just remember all are not the same. Nor are they at their full potential. So before anyone thinks to say again man those things are dogs and wastes of money consider the above. There is always another side of the coin.

If it was an E not only would it be some outragous color shifting paintjob but it would be super rare. I dont think too many of them are even out yet.

Funny how you mention 10 Mustang guys jumping in all the time. Thats only because everyone gauges how fast there car is against a Stang. Isnt it funny how everyone compares there cars to how well they can do against a Mustang ?

Just about everyone on this board including myself has been killed by a Stang before guaranteed ! Therefore when one of you gets a kill on a Stang you feel proud. Enjoy it while it lasts !

if you see a heck of a lot of them then you are looking at fakes. they are selling a lot of aftermarket parts to look like them. there are only 3 in the tampa bay area that i know of judging from all the bullitt websites that i have seen. they are in limited production and could only get them by ordering them from Ford there were none on lots. and if you did see them on a lot they were most likely being picked up within the week. also about you thinking they are high 14s you are way off. most that i see are either running low low low 14s or better then what i am running.
