Red Z28 gets a 4 banger beating

I was on my way home when I pulled up to the light with a stock looking red Z28. I believe it was an LT1. I looked over at the guy and he looked back so I thought it might be race time for us. 
We didnt launch but started kind of quick from the get go and then we both punched it in 2nd gear. I started pulling away and let off after 3rd gear me being a couple cars out in front. Then he pulled up next to me matched my speed and flexed. And so we went from a roll once again. I dropped it in 3rd and pulled away from him.
He then matched my speed again and proceeded to ask me what kind of motor I had. He then asked me to race again from 40mph. He said on the count of 3. He counted to 3 and punched it. I dropped it in 2nd gear on 3 and steadily walked away again.
We talked a little bit at the next light. He couldnt believe it and said something about him already beating other cars ( I assume imports) with $10000 in them. I told him that most Civics are just ricers. I explained to him it was my light weight. We then went our seperate ways. Cool guy.
