Ill be there. Probably for Sunday but possibly both depending on work. Is this an SCCA event or some local club event?

the event is hosted by CFR region SCCA theres no way a local club could get the insurance necessary to run an event!!! At least not in Gville. HA!

If SVT in your name means cobra then goodyears are your enemy. save half the money up and buy Kuhmos. Ecsta Supras for the street and Victoracer V700s for the track (seperate rims).
Good job finding the link!

Dont expect to be competitive even if you actually are. The weather always throws monkey wrenches into out events. AND were not here to win... yeah right but you gotta lose in order to get better. I lose alot I am getting better...
Go figure though I get to where I can be competitive in F-stock and I move to Street Mod where I am not.

See you guys there! Its gonna be a good course.

So is this on their mini-road course I heard about or is it the usual parking lot with cones thing? I may actually be able to make it up that Saturday if anyone else is going that day.

Seeing that I have never been at an auto-x before would you say this is a good beginners course or does that not really matter?

Robster

umm its high speed for an autocross but its not really that high speed youll probably approach 65 and most of the turns will be taking at speeds between 20-45 Im guessing. Its not the best track for a first time but still is a good track. It has its pros and cons for a first timer. Cons track speeds are higher so if you dont know the limits of your car yet it will be harder to approach them and retain control of the car. It is a smooth track so a novice doesnt have to worry about the suspension becoming unsettled from going over bumps there is a lot of run off room if you do go off track (mean there arent any stationary objects that you have to worry about hitting. Overall Id say even though youre a novice and this will be your first time go ahead and go speeds really arent that high just slowly approach your known limit of your car until you find the true limit of it instead of trying to exceed the limit. Ask an instructor to ride along with you the first and possibly the 2nd lap. As a general rule of thumb for racing there are 3 things you can be doing in a race car you can be accelerating braking or turning and you should only be doing one thing at a time. Meaning while approaching a turn get all of your braking done before you enter the turn then let off the brakes as you enter the turn when youre near the end of the turn and you have more room get on the gas to push the car to the outside edge of the track and just accelerate. Also keep in mind what line you are going to take for the next curve and what type of line you are going to take for your current turn to set you up to enter the next turn with as much speed as possible. Try to drive as smooth as possible sudden changes in driver input can distrupt the suspension after it has settled and cause the car to go out of control. If you have any more questions feel free to ask. Ill probably be up there on saturday so if you see a purple 4 door civic with gsr wheels come up and say hi if youd rather have me ride with you than an instructor thats fine also Ill pretty much do the exact same thing theyre doing help guide you through the track (navigate) Ill try to point out what youre doing wrong (dont take offense its just constructive criticism) and point out what youre doing right. If you dont understand something I just tried explaining feel free to ask and Ill elaborate some. Take it easy.

yeah whenver I have a bad run i just blame it on the helmet being to tight causing a lack of blood/oxegen getting to my brain and being on the verge of conciousness for the entire run.

Robster good description of the course. IT is a very forgiving course and even us more experienced drivers go offroading once in a while tee hee
You do not need to buy a helmet I am heading the event up and I dont even own a helmet yet! HA
6 sounds like a good time to leave but no later than! traffic shouldnt be an issue on I-75 but then you have to cross ALL of Gainesville... its a good trek across town. Saturday will be a good day for a novice to see what he can do. Sunday will have less runs overall and will have a few more people but more experienced people... SO if you learn by watching Sunday would be better.
WOO HOO!! I cant wait!
