View Full Version : Clear headlamp lenses --

I know this has prob been done before, I remember reading it. However i can't seem to find it. My headlights have a foggy coat I am trying to remove. I can't recall what grain of sandpaper to use, or if it was a mothers product that I need to remove the film. Any info would be good :D

Best thing to do is completly sand them with 600~1000 and clear them with Urethane clear. I do them for people around here.

thnx. I picked up a 3m kit that had everything in it. sanding and polishing.

It will not last though. The plastic will continue to deteriorate.

Does the clear prevent the light from oxidizing again? I would assume it would act as a protective coating and extend the life of the light.

Yes. Stops all UV from getting to the plastic surface.

yeah it does, but even that over time will fade..... why else do cars get ashy? lols



a much much cheaper method to restoring headlights is to just wetsand from 600 up to 2000. then borrow a buffer or use plastic polish by hand. looks brand new, make it last by waxing every now and whenever like you do your car.... IF you do that to your car :-o

I wouldn't bother going through the trouble buying the material and doing it yourself.
I found a place where I got it done in Riverview for only $40
