I was at Jan 27th autocross in Gainsville. Its like a little mini-roadcourse. One of the coolest autocrosses Ive ever attended. It was a bit dreary out but that didnt spoil the fun. I managed to snap a few pictures between laps. I didnt really get any good action photos of cars racing due to the layout of the course but below is a just a few pics from the days event Enjoy.

hope it works.

I was hoping to post the few pics in one post but it doesnt seem to be possible. Sorry.

Below is my car. I know its not much but it has to serve double duty as my family car and my autocross racer.

that looks like a lot of fun. Do you know of any events coming up soon at that track? I havent gone racing in a long time and I could use a fresh track to hone my skills back to shape on. Thanks.

Okay here is some more pics. I hope they arent too small. Ill let you know if I hear more on the next event. Check out www.eec.com and find the link for the scca to find out when the next event is. I think you can click on the blue supra picture. I believe there might be an autox there next month. Locally there is the sunriders auto cross in Pinellas. Check out www.sunriders.com for more on that. Later-Ben

send ALL the pics to me and I will post them on my site AND/or otherwise get some of them published in the monthly magazine.

Yeah we plan on having enother event at THAT site in March. Now that I joined your board Ill try to stop in and let you know which weekend and the other details.

Oh and I am glad to hear you liked the course so well that was my FIRST ever attempt at course design. Well see what I can conjure up next!
OH and also--- Im gonna see about allowing photography set up on top of the van. For those with high dollar camers who can see the far side of the course but just need the right angle. Well see that the region supervisor says... else I might have to find someone with a cherry-picker!!!

Heya Shawn

welcome to Tamparacing. Its nice to have someone involved with the SCCA on here. Ive raced on that Gainsville course last year as the first time i ever auto crossed my WRX.. i loved it.. and i will try to make the aot-x in march..

im also trying to see if we can get a few more of the Tamparacing people involved in auto crosses.. steer them away from just running 1/4 miles all the time..

what i would love to see is an SCCA run rally cross like they have up north.. a large open field.. marked by cones etc.. fun.. and not too damaging on the WRX.. :)

anyhow.. thanks for stopping by.. and keep us updated on coming events :)

Zate!
there is a program currently in the works to do this BUT no one is volunteering to help set it up. There is a coordinator but no other lackeys to help him... if you want it youre gonna have to work for it.

I am pretty proficient at drifting in the sand and gravel as I used to go mudding in my good ol LTD. Just too busy introducing AutoX to the Gainesville scene to do any more.

Ill see if I can find out any more info for you and point you in the right direction.

That would be cool.. i have some contacts for alittle sponsorship. teh local Subaru Dealer (mastro subaru - www.mastrwrx.com) are actively involved in motor sports and have already put on their own Rally Cross last year..

i dont mind volunteering to get something off the ground either :)
