Tranny question

I have an 85 s10 and my 3rd 4th and 5th went out
I know a kid who has the same truck just its 2wd
Will his 2wd tranny work on my 4wd truck
they both have the same 2.8 motor and both are 5spd

only if you swap tailshafts, your tranny bolts up to a transfer case, where his only has the driveshaft coming off of it...

I'm not sure if its easy to swap tailshafts or not, It would probably be way easier to get a 4wd tranny to start with.

Thanks guys Im just gonna take the transfer out and make it 2wd for now
