Short notice....I know. SCCA is holding a 2-day event on Jan 26-27th. It is being held @ the GAinesvile Raceway. This course is like a mini road course. This course is a 5 Star course in my book. Totally Awesome. You can race saturday or Sunday or both days. For more info check www.eec.com/racing.
Caravan?
Charles
P.S.- Some real good Auto-xs coming up in Feb....in Ft Myers. Details to come!

Any vehicle that meets SCCA rules can run. Road Race cars to Hertz Rental cars!
As far as Drifting...If you dont drive off-course you should be okay...but drive recklessly and they will ask you to stop. Remember there is a difference between controlled drifting and loosing control.

Where in Gville is the track? I never knew it exsisted. What is an average lap time? Do you need your own helmet or do they have rentals? Im waiting for my new shocks but you can be sure when I get em on Ill try to make it. (If I can find a way to get the day off too!)

Although you can borrow a loaner helmet...I reccomend buying 1. I paid $99 for mine @ Automotive engineering in Clearwater...awesome price. I believe the snell 90 is the minimum rating required.
As far as track location see the pic above? That long straight away is the Gainseville Raceway (1320 track)...you know where they have the GatorNationals etc...Alot of people dont know this little course exists. And average times? I think last April we were running 1.5-2 minuetes. Alot of fun. Ill be there! Hopefully both days.

The track is located at the back of the property. You cannot see the track from the main road.
There a lot of different track configurations so it should be interesting.

Sweet! I cant seriously recall doing an event that lasted that long!
(Honestly though the last one must have been an old Porsche/BMW event from at least 2 years ago. :( )
I will make every attempt to be there.
Btw do they just run through the entire course or are there cones to change things up?

Ill be there Saturday. Unfortunately I wont make it Sunday but at least Ill get in some practice early on in this New Year. Hope to see very few people on Saturday (more runs for me!!). :D
You dont need to be a member of the SCCA to run though you do get a discount (I believe its either 5 or 10 but dont quote:136d73115c me on that). If you arent a member you can pay the fee to become one and your first event is free. Either way it comes out to the same price (i.e. either pay just for this event now or register for the SCCA).
If anyone else is going Saturday you can reach me on my cell if you feel like doing a caravan on the way there.

Good luck.

Well I found you. Hope you had fun...funny how good your memory is....if you hadnt said your last name I never would have figured it out ;). Hope to see you soon @ another event...next time we can talk a little bit more but not about cars...curious to see how the animation worked out for you. It was my inspiration (Altough I sucked!). Good seeing you again and dont be a stanger!

Yeah Man...when I saw you I knew I had met you before. it wasnt until I heard your last name that I knew we went to school togther back in the day. Weird huh?
Hey congrats on your placing in the event!
The animation thing worked out pretty well for me though I havent made a production in quite some time. Some of my animation has earned some money. Other productions have gone on to win some awards but now I never have the time for that stuff. Still working in the TV biz though.
Anyways....you were right man. That course is sweet. One of the best autocross events I have ever been to. I think they could have been a bit more organized but Im sure theyll work the bugs out after awhile. Let me know if you hear of any more events our there Charles.
Everyone else....you gotta make the trip to GVille. Its worth it.
