Hey some of you may remember the post I made before about my friend with a 98 4dr accord and he did an H22A swap.

I finally met up with him while I was home for winter break and heres what Ive come back with:

He paid in total $6700 for everything from going to an auto to manual engine all parts and labor. On the engine he has a dual exhaust (probably doesnt do much over a single exhaust) headers CAI and an MSD ignition. And the place that did his swap kept his old engine with all the mods he had on there.

We were driving around and I wanted to see how well that $6700 was spent. I just came home from school and had some things in my car (tools 2 ton jack sound system and 2 wheels/tires in the back seat) so my car was pretty full. He had nothing in the trunk no spare back seat or center console.

We catch a light and take off...I jumped on him right away next we were doing a 3rd gear roll and we both gunned it and this is where he pulled away from me but very slowly (guess the VTEC was doing its job).

To quickly mention my car 91 Sentra SE-R JDM engine Pacesetter headers intake pullies and exhaust.

Now...if this is the best that $6700 can do ladies and gentlemen I am not impressed. His car was gutted basically I still had a lot of stuff in mine. I know Hondas are more expensive to mod up but if I were to put the same amount of money into my car I would have one bad ass FMAX kit and runnin low 12s.

Im not saying hes dumb for what he did or how much he spent but Im sure there were other alternatives. But he is happy about everything and I guess thats what matters.

thanks for your time

its all about just being different though thats why im doing up my accord (even though mine is about 500lb lighter then the 6th gens). Now say you didnt know that guy and he pulled up to you and he beat you you cant tell me you wouldnt be impressed. Anyone can be like everyone else and throw a b18c in a hatch and run 13s-14s stock but thats not really original anymore. Now pulling the same times in an accord is a lot more impressive and in my opinion would earn a lot more respect from me then the avg day swapped civic.

I could also go buy an old 5L hatch stang and put 6000 in it and make it run 10-11s but once again nothing surpising or original about that.

Im not saying Im not impressed he took off a few seconds off his 1/4 mile. He would do 18s or 19s on the Gtech and now I would say hes in the low to mid 15s yes that is impressive and if I didnt know him I would be even more impressed but for the kind of money he spent and had to give up his old engine...I dont think its that impressive.

Again the car moves but if he put that same amount of $ into his old engine Im sure he would be running circles around me.

According to him its not that easy to do the swap in the 98 since its an OBDII engine so the swap was more invloved I know in the earlier model Accords its more simple so perhaphs this is what brought the cost up.

But again if I didnt know this guy and here he is pulling on me in 3rd gear I would like to know what he did but when I hear how much he spent I would be like and thats the best you can do?!. I dont want to sound like an asshole about it but thats just how I feel about it. A nitrous/turbo setup on the original engine would have made that family sedan a lot faster.
