so for the last week or so my audi has been making a funny, i wanna say,
"zzzzzzzzz" ing noise in first and second gear
but when i get into third and up it goes away
i don't want this to be a problem in the future and it definitely sounds like
its coming from the front of the car. its not rubbing or anything im positive its coming from somewhere under the hood
any suggestions on what it could be?

could be a syncro.

 

hm
well it does it even when im sitting still.
even in neutral as soon as it starts up.
when it makes the noise it sort of pulsates.
like louder then gradual decline in the sound then back up again.

as chris said any kinda funky noise in an audi time to sell

 

it will probably cost you more than the car is worth to fix it.

Get it looked at, but make sure you tell whoever you take it to not to repair it without your consent first.

Post what engine you have, 1.8t or 2.8. Tranny, 5spd or auto, how many miles, what maintenance have been done to the car lately. etc...
