all i know is when you use a mugnum head on a la you have to use amc lifters rockers and push rods due to the oiling difference in the head but joe has confused me on the difference between my engine and his concerning internal components. and of course my library of moparbooks is in the united van lines storage facility grrrrrrrr and bob is in a coma

No you use a MAF sensor I use a MAP

MAF = Mass Air Flow
MAP = cant remember

2 different air metering systems

Both Crane and Comp told me I can[t run a solid lifter with the stock computer

and Jeff solid roller is mechanical roller f00!

never heard that one before go ask moparchatim sure plenty o people there know for sure

MAP= Manifold Absolute Pressure

In my service manual it only shows me having a MAP sensor no MAF sensor. BTW omnis have MAP sensors too. If the computer is the issue then the main prob is the vacuum. I think thats it I remeber talking to r/t guys about dropping a crate into a dakota and them telling me that you have to swap the cam because it doesnt give you enough vacuumbut im not sure.

Exactly... Theres no HYDRAULIC Rollers... thus I always heard rollers being called rollers.. theres only one kind.

BTW where the fuck are you joe? Ive been trying to call you for a few days about Cophering. Were going tomorrow and Tues. Call me or write me on here or something. Tomorrow = Bradenton & Clearwater. Tues = Tampa

Jeff you crackhead....hydraulic rollers are everywhere!! Go look in a cam catalog!

how is that possible? There is a cushion of fluid between the roller lifter and the cam? It wouldnt work unless the fluid is in an enclosed area.. the spring pressures are crazy on roller cams.

:confused::confused::confused::confused::confused: :confused::confused::confused::confused:

AH a hydraulic roller is just like a non roller hydraulic. he body of the lifter has a check ball and a little spring. oil pressure just used to tack up valve train slack (you BETTER know that :P ) only thing just has a roller bottom end. If I remeber right the old 85ish police 318s had a roller lifters in them.

Hydraulic dont have to worry about valve lash setting more maintaince free. (that make sense?)
Mechanical or solid has that cool really mean race car sound with a mechanical valve train noise. Perodic lash adjustments needed. Depends if you want maintance free or not. Actually the mechanical can have a more agressive cam profile than a hydraulic. Solids obvoiusly have NO give to them. Except the pushrod but that doesnt spring back into shape after it bends. Been there done that.
