98 cobra vs blown Si.........

Coming home from Channel Side (Howl at the Moon). I think I saw a fellow board member. Chime in who was there last night w/ a blonde. Anyway driving down DM north and got into the turning lane to make a left onto Waters. There is a blue civic si next to me. The guy had dyed blonde hair. I noticed the gauges on his pillar. So I thought either another all show and no go or a quick 4 cyl.

Well the lights turns green and Im on the outside. I hear his blow off vavle and say Ohhhh! Cool. So I keep it in 3rd and wait for his move(once we were heading west on waters). Hes gets about a car length behind me and I hear him spool up and go. I look left and by that time his door is at my front fender. I mash the gas and where off. Hes even w/ me till I shift into 4th then percede(sp?) to pull away. I shut down cause I didnt want to go to jail(100+mph). Well we both hit the light right before the Vetrans Exprway. Well that race got ugly so I wont go into details. But I would say u can measure in bus lengths. Still pretty quick car. It didnt have a fart pipe just stock muffler. If your on the boards good run!

I raced that same guy. And I know its him becuase he had a stock muffler. He said that he runs high 12s but that sounds like bullshit to me.

Well I wouldnt say high 12. Maybe mid to high 13s. For high 12s u have to be trapping around 106+. -mark

i raced him before and pulled on him after that we pulled over and he told me he has a t3/t4 turbo when i raced him he had no exhaust and he told me he runs low to mid 13s. guy was pretty coo.

Same here. I can drive for hours (which I rarely do anymore) and I get 0 races. You guys go down to the 7-11 to get a drink and get 4 races on the way there and back !

I probably parked your car for you that night bitemark46. I put one cobra in VIP because it was clean... another out in the dusty lot because it was dirty as hell.. The owner was a woman though.. I usually dont street race unless provoked(hint hint) :D
It seems almost everytime I drive down DM I get a race. Coming home from a friends house the other day I raced a yellow crx w/ a 5tach. Two white kids in it. Once I let them in my lane he guns it and weaves in and out of traffic. Sorry thats not me!

I can find races but most of them are not worth my time. Back in the day I use to get exited to race some little shit cars but now I all my races are usualy set up.

i have also raced a turbo civic of that description blue and all at sunshine but it was only running low 9s----nothing too dangerous.......

good kill bitemark I always land races on hills bourough avenue around 9 at night. Theres that long stretch where its dark and thers a hess on the right. Thats the only place i like to race.

yea that was me. good run ya definitely had me by a little. i never told anyone i ran 12s. only in my dreams will my little 4 banger hit 12s. i can hit high 13s all day but definitely low 13s without drag radials. i think when i raced u i had vtec off too i was running without it for a little while. and its a straight T3 not a T3/T4 stock motor stock everything besides the clutch. i had open downpipe at the time dont know where everyones getting the stock muffler thing from. anyways good race maybe ill see u again after i get my cam gears in and get it tuned on monday. whats done to that cobra? i raced a hooked up white one the other day he said it was his girlfriends. it had a huge hood and 315s in the back thats all i could see. and it was about dead even from a roll i think i pulled him a little even though he was in front of me cause he jumped on it first. oh and i was at about 6-7psi no vtec at the time now im at about 9 w/ vtec :)

Good run man! I just have the basic bolt-on cobra(exhaustgearpulliestimingetc.) Stock internals and a race weight of 3575#. I thought I saw that u didnt have a huge muffler. I didnt see one. If u do have one u do a good job of hiding it. U sure have a pretty quick sleeper there. Turn up the boost and your right w/ me! Hope to seeya around. Good luck. -Mark

yea whats up man i remember that. its running a little better from the time i raced u but no where near what i would even call good. i just got it dynoed and it says it all. i need a bigger turbo mine starts running out of breath at 5500rpm(where torque goes straight down). i make the same hp from 5500 to 7200 so the upshift in a race is when i do most of my pulling. and my fuel thing is once again screwed up. from 5000-6000 it leans out a bit(13:1)and at about 7000 my air/fuel ratio starts taking a nosedive to about 7 or 8:1 and the car just sputters and makes no power(less than a stock si after 7200). and believe it or not i have the same max HP as max torque...in a civic! funny how i can beat cars with over 300hp when i have over 100 less HP in a heavy civic. and toy with other cars with the same horsepower if not more than me. i honestly thought i had well over 200 at the wheels...not the case
