Test driving a friends car which is for sale. Its a red 92 Mustang GT 5.0 foxbody with stock wheels sporting what I think were Kumhos. 750cfm holley carb edlebrock cylinder head and headers all around bassani exhaust balanced blueprinted and just a nice example of small block Ford 302 NA performance.
Im in West Palm Beach test driving this thing on Okeechoobee Blvd. (you probably have no clue what Im talking about so its a big 6 lane road) around 8 at night. Pull to a stop talking to the owner (as he comments on my lack of shifting skills) revving the engine basically just getting a feel for the car. Im watching the rear view because I see some projectors coming up behind us and theyre shaking like the car has a stiff as hell suspension. Sure enough up comes a REALLY nice looking white Integra (all manner of gauges on the roof column and dash) followed by the sound of a really loud blow off valve as he gives me a rev. I wasnt going to race this isnt my car and my shifting skills really do suck (despite being on my third 5-spd car). The owner looks at me and says Well you cant just let him get away with that. Alright! As the crosswalk sign starts to blink and I see the other lights go yellow I hear him raise his revs and a turbo spools just audible over the consistant growl of the 5.0 Greenlight and were off... or atleast HE IS damn wheel spin! Let off the throttle it bites and I switch into second gear 2-3 car lengths behind. As I power through second he has stopped moving away from me and is now going the same speed. I can hear and feel the V8 just roaring throughout the entire car (V8s the only engines that feel like they want to jump out of the engine bay and kill you lol). The engine is just screaming as it hits 5k and I switch into third. Hit third giving the tires a chirp and then PULL up to his tail... clutch shift fourth gas it... PULL even passing... clutch shift 5th... going going gone. He pulls up besides us at the next light and we each give a thumbs up and hook a u-turn to head back...
...just in time to see THE most riced out Mazda Protege I have ever seen in my life. It had a wing that was atleast a full foot wider than the sides of the car crappy ass body kit stickers that are crooked everywhere and a disgusting checker paint job that must have used crayola products. The trash can sized exhaust was rediculous too. Ive seen that one around before and its all show (or atleast the driver thinks it is) and no go.
Awesome race for the Integra (dont know what year or model but it was low had white 5 spoke racing wheels gauges all around and was in West Palm Beach; great description right lol). If only I had enough cash to buy that Mustang.
