where can i find some good quality headliner material??? like just shops not places since im not anywhere near tampa.

im looking at navy blue or something that will match my interior.
the sunroof that was supposedly factory in my car turned out to be a dealer installed item (sun toyota in port richey) and it was done by dans sunroofs up there and its not toyota size nor has the map lights or correct switches just a generic sunroof control panel. thus it doesnt have the toyota sunroof preformed headliner it basically has this piece of blue cloth stretched across the ceiling and now its purple and sags in humid conditions. im looking at pulling mine off and redoing as i see fit and also to mount a custom dome light (hopefully a bright one) since my old one just never works. i know the material should be cheap but any ideas where to go besides walmarts craft department???

thx
dan

dan if you want something that is going to last i would go with tweed or viynal. both come in many different colors. i would think you would get a dark navy blue which in the tweed would look awesome the viynal would be dark and almost black depending on how light you go.

doing the headliner is very easy i have done 1000s while working with my grandparents. just get you some good scissors perferably material ones and a very sharp razor blade. just pull down the old headliner and remove the old cloth and please be carefull with it. use that as your template. lay it over the new material and make sure you draw an extra inch to inch and ahalf around the old headliner onto the new cloth. then also mark where you cut out have to be if you have any.

to make it stick all you need to pick up is some 3M spary adhesive for automobiles and upholstrey work. once you have everything trimed out simply do a test fit and line everthing up. then apply some of the adhesive to the waffer board and then start with one end and work your way down to the bottom of the headliner. its good to go in about 4 inch increments because the best way to do it is to apply the glue lay the material down then pull it up then lay it down again that way the glue is on both pieces and bonds with itself nicley.

also make sure to get a vynal smmother which is something any sticker guru can score for you. that is the best to use in the smothing of the surface. then one you get it all stretched out and applied let it set for a bit with just the edges folded over and secured with some sort of clamp which has to be a bit stronger that a clothes pin. once its dries for while start applying some glue to the center of the ends and stretch them also and work your self to each corner. once there you will need to make small triangle cuts in the material for it to fold over thr right way so it will have a nice smooth curve to it.

i would sugest doing 1 corner at a time so you can use your clamps to keep the corners secure and just do the same things on the other 3 corners. it might sound difficult but it really isnt. once it is done make sure you scothgaurd it for added security from dirt and stainds. if you have any questions dan feel free to pm me.
