I just want to verify that I am as stupid as some people try to make me think I am. In my small yet versatile Mopar world I have played with Forced Induction. Well I was always told that gearing your vehicle just right makes a world of difference. small example. My Neon was geared like a GSR while my Omni was doing 60 at about 2500 rpm ( If I remember Correctly ) Well as some of you all know My Husband bought me a 99 Dakota 5.2L that I am going to slap a Supercharger on. Not a Vortech because I have seen better numbers from a semi roots style charger at the same price. Well my truck has 3.55 gears. I also have an O/D tranny. My friend keeps telling me Ill have no low end tourque. But according to the dyno charts that I have seen for this kit on a 5.2L Dakota I will have approx 376 lb ft at 2500 rpm. He keeps telling my that I want to run at least 4.10s. I keep arguing saying NO I want to stick with the 3.55s because it is Forced induction. Am I really that dumb???? I mean I know I got 2 tits a hole and a heartbeat but I got a Brain too. And my brain just cant understand what he is saying. Does anyone???

Im not too sure about the gearing on a supercharger set up on a rwd v8 but to throw what little knowledge I have out for public display. when you go turbo you want longer gears so that you spend more time in boost. if you go with a roots style blower you dont have as much lag so it may not be an advantage to have longer gears.

id stay with the long gears too--i dunno about a 4.10 id just leave it and see what results you get..then maybe chang the gear....i have read that long gears are good on a supercharged setup especially for the street--but if you have alot of traction you can have short gears and a s/c..its all how fast you wanna go--im sure youll like the performance gear or not...

Id stay with the slightly lower gears if this is a daily driver truck. Those tall gears cause your motor to run at a much higher RPM on the highway and sucks gas.

With that low of a gear you may not be as fast as you can be. Longer gears are good yes but not too long. I would go and compromise with the two and get something around a 383 gear or something equivalent. Also remember that your auto will be kinda sluggish with the new supercharger. And also think about getting a stall converter just a light one though.
