I am looking at either using "4 Wheel Parts (http://www.4wheelparts.com/)" or "Northside 4x4 (http://www.tamparacing.com/forums/www.offroadmonster.com)".

Thanks cecil, I will be calling them soon....

We'll since my rear has been humming from 10mph and up only when accelerating i figured the pinion had gone. But do these just....go out.

Anyway I figured Id give it a shot and get a new diff cover and refill with royal purple 75w140 and see if that helps....NOPE didnt do anything. Can anyone see anything wrong with my gears here?

Sounds like your "Pinion Bearing" may be going bad...

Check your driveshaft angle and / or post a pic.

The output flange/yoke angle should be as close as possible to the pinion flange/yoke angle except opposite to prevent vibration and accelerated wear.

EG: if the output flange/yoke is 3 degrees positive, the pinion flange/yoke should be 3 degrees negative.
If the truck has been lifted, you will also have to install the appropriate amount of shims between the carrier bearing and frame.
A good rule of thumb is 1/4" shim for every 1" of lift.

Thanks for the info cecil. My truck is a 2005 F150 FX4 supercrew with a 2" autosprings front leveling kit installed. The other mods shouldnt effect it. It has wheels that stick out 1/2" further but those are the only mods I can think of that effect the drivetrain.

Also if you remember my bad day off roading video my truck's rear end was submerged for a good 5min. The fluids were pumped out and the mechanic( i was on duty, couldnt do myself) used a el-cheapo coastal non-syn 75w-140 with some friction modifer and it ran good for 3-4 days and then BAM it has LOUD rear end howl.

Then I go and install a new cover and add some nice new Royal Purple 75w140 and nothing has changed, the sound it still there. So im going to assume like you said that the bearings are shot. How much do you think this will cost me at that shop you recommended?

Call Will at "4 Wheel Parts (http://www.4wheelparts.com/stores/Store-Info.aspx?sNo=204)" and tell him Cecil with the Charcoal F-250 sent ya... they are doing mine next week (plus a few other mods). :-)

Good Luck!

Yes, but it was bundled with a ton of other stuff.... probably not an "apples-to-apples" comparison.

The bearing kit runs roughly between $100 - $200, then the rest is labor.

Wanna trade "bills"? ;-)

I'm doing both the front and rear end with lockers and new bearings..... as well as upgrading to Road Armor bumpers and a Warn 16.5ti winch..... and a few other goodies....

Check with Northside 4X4 also..... maybe they can do you better...

I can tell you what is wrong with the rear end. Northside will be about the same as a 4 wheel parts.

Good luck on you gears Cecil, I had to have mine done 5 times before they got it right.

If you want it done right with no noise give me a call.

QQ - on the Mag-Hytec diff covers, do they have a drain plug so you can flush fluid without dropping the cover?

your bearings are wore out , your gears seem to look fine from the pictures .. ide get with one of the die hard 4x4 ford guys in here and let them do it way cheaper than a shop .. just a suggestion.

Went to extreme 4x4 automotive, we reused the gears, all new bearings, new axle seals, and a detoit truetrac LSD. No gear whine and it rides nice. BTW cecil, yes it has a fill with magnatized dipstick and a magnatized drain plug.
