proof is on nasioc. personally, I would shim it. Its not permanent and, imho, works better.

Its not rocket science or black magic :)

You are just crushing the metal so the spring tension is higher. Thus holding more boost.

look up dyno flash they tuned an sti on an fp green and after they crushed it it made 30 more hp... thats enough "proof" for me

mike do you have the elbows for the bpv still? cause thats the main reason why i got so much

were getting tuned tomorrow cant wait

I didn't even know you could shim the stock BPV, but if its possible, I'd recommend this route. You have much more control over the outcome using shims than just crushing the top of it. Crush it too much and it might not open fast enough, or wide enough, or at low enough pressure to prevent compressor surge when the throttle plate closes.

im not sure how its done. I heard it at one point and just accepted it was possible. Never cared or tried. My stock bpv works fine for my application, so Ive never worried too much about it.

I know what crushing is. Im saying Ive never heard of a crushed BPV holding more boost than a BPV w/ the $.16 mod. Obviously both will hold better than a stock BPV.

I dont think so. Its just meant so you can hold more boost if needed.
