Anybody interested?

If you have ever attended an event that I am at I always have a few others with me. Auto-Xing is fun but it is better as a group. With this in mind I am thinking of starting an Auto-X Team. No Dues No Presidents nothing like that. There will be small requirements to join but basically a bunch of hardcore cone crushers.

It doesnt matter what kind of car or what condition. V-8 I-4 or go-cart it doesnt matter. Its a way for each of us to help each other.

Interested? Reply here.

This is Patrick. I met you at Johns dyno about 2 months ago. We were waiting for John out side with some guys from Jville Anyway I think that is a great idea. What do you think about a small autox at the next import drag warz. Bradenton has a circle track in the back.

i would love to see that happen but the sad news is that 2 different people own desoto alan and his partner owns the dragstrip while another gentleman and his wife own the circle tarck.

i could talk to alan about that and see if he knows this gentleman and maybe see what we can work out. the only thing is the circle track is not very large and the only course would have to be layted out over thew figure 8 section of the track.

are there any good road courses around? auto-x seems too short for me and my car is hungry for some touring. i know sebring is around but i dont know if u can privately go there or not. i dont wanna have to pay so much for a few laps.

guess for now ill stick to curve city aka the polk county mining roads...talk about gs!

Have you ever tried Auto-Xing? Road Courses are nice but with $250+ entry fees its a little expensive.

true. i really want to do some auto-xing but never really got off my lazy ass to do it. i have the idea and have seen it. yes its cheaper and some courses are really cool. just some people say its too quick.

all i really need is a helmet but never got around to getting one. when is a good next auto-x? i would like to come out and watch one again before i run (cant run for a few weeks moving to college)

but ill be in orlando i hear valencia has some good ones

Sounds interesting....Ive been wanting to try autocross I need better brakes though. Sooner or later I want to get into it. I hear the circle track at Desoto isnt good for autocross but it is a great place to Gitter Dun.

Length of course and speeds vary by track location and sponsor group. I have been to tight small tracks to long fast tracks. The best one so far? The Porsche test Track in Gainesville. Speeds for me were around 65-70 and it was a 1 min 45 sec course. Trust me it was nice :D and exhuasting.

Flounder: Brakes? Come on...they are nice but you dont need them ;).

Unless you have experience track days can get expensive. I am attempting to put together a track day at the Gainesville road course. the price will be around 125.00. I will keep you posted. Your car should be ok at Gainesville but Sebring would be really really hard on your car.

Here is a video of a Porsche 911 turbo going into the new hair pin at Sebring.

I am sure we could work something out with the guy. I havent seen the circle track area. Next time Im at DeSoto I will take a look.

Your brakes should be fine. Get better pads and replace your current fluid with a high boiling point fluid.

you should try a BMW or Porsche track.. they favor speed over turning it seems...

Count me in as well.

Taylors right BMW and Porche people get a much bigger place to work with at MacDill and theyre ALWAYS set up for higher speeds than scca or miata events. Youre gauranteed to hit third and to use first sparingly depending on vehicle.

Understood but not everbody can easily drop $250 for a track day @ Sebring...and the added risk of damage without insurance adds more complications. If you have a car that is specifically for the track or that is paid off that is one thing but when you still have payments thats another.

I still have payments on my car.. and it still gets tracked. Ive seen very few accidents at track events.

count me in...the only reason I havent gone to any yet is because something has always come up or no one else was going. But if you want to start a group...count me and the mullet mobile in..after all thats what it was built for.

troo troo (im just being a dork)

yall are talking about renting out an oval track? or what?

i seen em just use tracks for the parkinglot....to set up cones.....i dunno how hard it is to come by wide open parking lots. but i seen em use the parking lots at tracks because the owners were like minded pple.

also ricerocket:is info about the sept. 8 and 9 meeting ambiguous for a reason? like only members are supposed to know?

or what is the info on the sept 8 and 9th?

On september 8th and 9th there is an SCCA auto-x at the Florida State Fairgrounds. This is an SCCA sponsored event and we are making it a TampaRacing event for our members. You should show up. If youve never autocrossed before theres a first time for everything! or just sit back and watch and get a feel for the action. Im sure anyone of us wouldnt mind giving you a ride aroudn the track to show you what its like.
