Thumbs up 240sx VIN and MID decoding

Just got a 240sx (s13) and was just looking for information on stuff about my car and found this ...

240SX VIN and MID Decoding

It tells you how to decode your VIN and model id to find what options came with your 240sx from the factory. Was glad my 240sx didn't have HICAS.

Just thought TR fellas would find this useful.

That's a pretty long "thanks to" considering that anyone can find this in the FSM and the microfiche. They don't even tell you what the other numbers on the VIN plate mean. You've got paint codes like WK0, interior codes G=black, transmission model like FS5W71C, and most import the final drive like RC40 where "40" -> 4.0 -> 4.083:1.

That's a pretty handy resource, though. Good find. I wish I had time to contribute to Wiki's.

well from reading HICAS is supposed to be like an all wheel steering like the AWS Preludes. which i read is not what you'd want if you want to drift.... don't really know though... ... also read that some peeps with hicas drift with no problems. i'd just rather not have it, that's all.

depends on your style I guess.
My buddies car had hicas and it felt really floaty to drive. at least it did to me. Once he got rid of it, everything was nice and tight again.
