Mad Max and WRX Zate Tangle on the streets of Palm

Well Zate and I finally ran. It was a friendly race with no cares either way as to who was the victor. (You know...a no worries mate type of thing...hehehehehe) But the loser had to post to maxima.org impreza-rs.com and tamparacing.com.

So Mad Max must have been spanked.

Well it was more or less a dead heat. We were never able to get a light (we were going about 10 mph in a 55 mph zone trying to wait for them to change....) but we did do quite a few 2nd through 4th gear blasts. The WRX was modded with an electronic boost control set at 14.5 psi and the Max has Cattman Y pipe and Place Racing CAI. In every case when we hit it the Max would jump out about 1 car length immediately then would just stay there. Neither one of us could pull away from the other. We ran like this about 5 times up to over 100 mph and the same thing held true everytime.

I was fairly impressed with the WRX as its power on the move is better than I thought it would be. With a few mods his car will be able to suck the paint off Mad Max. But all in all the family truckster Max held his own against the rally bred WRX at least for now. But Im guessing if Zate wanted to he could have clicked that HKS Electronic boost control knob over a few more notches and that would have been the end of ole Max.

yeah..i was surprised athow dead even it was.. we could almost talk while we raced..hehe.. i think from a stop light.. the launch would put me just ahead enough to win over a 1/4m mile.. but in my eyes.. the cars are dead even.. great race :D

4SFED is off of jackstands! In fact all Ive got left to do is do some computer wiring/pins/ECU stuff and then it will be ready to spin the drums and tune it in. In fact I drove the car a couple of days ago.

I am sure 4SFED will have no problem with Joes TSi :D but I suspect a dusting may come my way when your Civic is complete :(

Yeah...Im stuck with a 1970s tech single cam 8V head.....It takes alot of boost to make up for the relative lack of flow. Id say to get comparable numbers to a well done Honda turbo the boost will probably be close to doubled.

But if mine blows up I can go to Cophers!

Mid September sounds good....I hope to be close to done by then (as if this car will ever be done.....)

FWIW A buddy of mine with a real close set-up to 4sfeds (basic difference 2.5L v/s 2.2 and a smaller turbo both GLHTs) just ran a 12.36 @ 114 mph. That was on 5 psi LESS boost than 4sfed wants to run his larger turbo at.

hehehehehehe. The pot is sorta bubbling a little but it hasnt reached a full boil.

Yep...fooled with the car yesterday. Its definitely electrical and in the wiring....the new LM didnt fix it. Ill redo the pins with my junk harness and if thats doesnt do the trick Ill put the new hraness in.

The harness is boxed and ready to sent out tomorrow. Spent yesterday detailing the new new Dodge 600ES intercooled vert. Cleaned up nicely. New O2 sensor fixed its get up and go. Dusted a Big winged Japenese lettered Neon on the way back from dinner (lol)

Getting Blackie ready with cleaning and polishing + a little engine work today. Mopar Nats here I come. Time for a little showing of in front of the Hemis.

I hope 4sfed is ready when I get there... Ill look at putting the cams in the box to send as well.
