replacement will be a sentra, corolla or civic. I drive 50 miles a day and 20 MPG + 93 + $4 gas just isnt worth it. I cant remember the last time I drove the STi spirited.. i drive a minivan on the weekends with the kids/wife and the Sti is going to waste.

So I might try to trade it tomorrow, or failing that sell it provate.. either way I want an auto with cold air and 30+ MPG.

Pity Subaru doesnt make a fuel efficient car or a minivan, I would have bought both this week.

Wow man, sorry to hear this.:( I understand if you have a family and other cars at your disposal. I don't think I'll ever get rid of my STI because of what it costs to maintain it (I waited 3 years until I could more than afford one before I made the plunge--yes I'm a patient guy!). You must be driving it conservatively to hit 20mpg. Are you just staying out of boost to accomplish this? Mostly highway miles? I'd love some tips:) I can't remember the last time I got over 16mpg...I'm usually in the 10-15 mpg range:-o!!

STi got traded on an 08 civic EX about 3 hours ago. Man it was sad to see it go. i got an ok price for it, not as much as I could have gotten somewhere else, but I liked the civic more than the corolla.

STi was my dream car, well a 1998 STi anyhow, maybe I will just build that :)

ah nope, but most og my driving is highway, like 75-80% of it. It was 100% stock.

This last week I set the rev light to 3K and kept it under that at all times and got 23 average... but it sucked to drive that way.. lol

nothing over 35 highway that i know of ?.. AWd doesnt really lend itself to being that fuel efficient.

What really bugs me is the lack of a true minivan, with the sliding doors. Man an AWD Subaru minivan would rock. 2.5, 2.5XT and 3.0R levels :-D

no one makes a fuel efficient minivan, they are all about 15-19 and 23-27... best is Mazda but that barely makes it as a minivan, the thing is tiny we could barely fit our double stroller in it.

I get 25-26mpg in my bugeye WRX. When I installed a HKS drop in filter, it dropped to 19mpg. With a catback installed, it dropped to 22.5mpg. Needless to say, now I'm running a Fram air filter and an STi axle back.

No towards Zate.... I think he is asleep!

For the MPG stuff I have a Stage 2+ STI and I get between 19 and 20mpg. That is 50 / 50 highway and street. MPG is all about the tune....

try calling them and asking for Mike Acord.

Mr Warfare, you enjoy that 20 MPG on the 93 there buddy ;) Your commute is about half of what mine was though.

i dunno what my MPG on the civic is yet but its comfortable as hell to drive. I know i have done 80 miles and done about 1/8th of a tank... i expect to get 35-40 MPG out of this first tank and it togo up from there.. been doing some stuff to make sure i try to get a good MPG. If I cant go for performance, i'm goin for economy.. lol

I enjoy everyday I drive my STI. I drove a Trabi in Berlin last week and that is a no power POS(Two cylinder 2-stroke with 40hp). Glad to be back in my STI.

What the hell is,"if I can't go for performance I go for MPG." Maybe you didn't need a STI after all!!!

I am just pulling your chain Zate!! Good luck with the new ride!

even at 26 MPG my weekly commute would cost about $45.

at the 20 I got it was $58.

In the civic ? $28.

Thats a savings of $30 a week, or $120 a month.. thats huge !..

I loved my STi, and I'll own one again (actually probably just pick up a swapped 2.5RS eventually) but right now I am far far more comfortable in the civic and so is my wallet :-D

i even looked into getting a 87 tune, putting the boost as low as it would go and tuning it for economy. Everywhere I read said it wouldnt do a whole lot and that if you wanted economy, buy a civic. Makes sense to me.. LOL

Zate,

You have the right idea just the wrong implementation! :P I too also hated what the STi was costing gas wise and made the decision a longgggg time ago to get a gas sipper. Like one year after getting the STi. But I kept the STi.

I've "upgraded" from my 93 Accord 5 speed I bought 3 years ago to a 93 Civic Vx hatch. That thing is GREAT on gas. :D A 15 year, gasoline only car, rated at 45 city, 56 highway! :-o

The best part is the "challenge" of getting as good a mileage as possible. I still don't have it tuned right but it gets high 30s low 40s in town or on the highway all day long. Best I ever did was in town, shutting off at lights (when the weather was nice). 50 mpg. Take that Op*ick, I mean Opec! :P

The best part? The dichotomy. After going from a 2044 pound, 93 hp, 1800 rpm shifting putt putt to the 3400 pound, 370 hp, shift at 6500 rpm beast is a BLAST! :)

Anyway, glad to hear you're going to get back in it eventually. :)

Btw know the other way to really stick it to Opr*ck? Bicycle. Did you know the human body on a bicycle gets the combustion engine equivalent of 300 mpg???? :-o And zero emissions to boot! Well as long as you're not eating Mexican as fuel. lol
