I am tempted to leave the stock turbo on and try to break into 11's on the stocker before I upgrade it. My car has 12.2 easy in it.......a few more mods like header, injectors, cai, ewg, tgv deletes.....and 11.9 is attainable
But it is just soooo much easier to slap this on with supporting mods.....gadiel tune, and skip 11's all together

go for the 10s Joe, dont put the motor through that abuse when you know that abuse when you know that 35r is going on anyway
you need to swing by the house again sometime soon;)

^ exactly what Gadiel told me...... He said getting the stock turbo into 11's is so much work and stress on the motor that it's not even worth it.......only to say " I ran 11's on stock snail" lol.
I moved to apollo but next time I am out that way I will go over for sure.
what sucks is.......I will just be masturbating to this hta wheel for the rest of the summer;) Since this is a big setup I want to do it right the first time........but damn it cost a lot of money to do things right

I'm Slow

^ *cough* 337whp*cough* lol but actually the low 12's is what is too slow......it's fun .....just not fast.

LDadrenaline
06-25-2008, 07:34 PM
yeah ive ridden in my friends dinan m5 which has 550+ at the flywheel (forget the actual number they claim).... its really just unneccessary power. i am very content with the 310whp i have.
if you feel low 12s really isnt fast enough, i dont get it, but its your car lol.

LD: 12's is quick but the car has so much more potential and I want to take advantage of it. It's the whole reason I bought an STi, I would have kept my wrx if I wanted to stay 300whp and 12's

Kyle, i got dibs on the 20g once you sell it but if you dont get off your ass and get a job so you can sell it im just gonna buy a new 18G and port/coat it..... Ill be happy with that. 11's is what i want :)

I agree -- 12's are fun, but I want a lot more juice for my street car... I was going to shoot for 11s on the stock turbo, but I think I'm just going to go GPmoto 32R kit when I can...

its RWD, dosnt have the kind of drivetrain loss we suffer from. and the dinan S2 package has the 3.91 rear diff (instead of the 3.46 it comes with), so it just screams.

the weight is also going to have a huge factor. that M5 weighs over 1k lbs than the STi. i would think just a 400whp STi would take that M5
LDadrenaline
06-26-2008, 12:50 PM

LD: So, would you rather track your car with 300whp or 500whp? 500 awhp is hardly unnecessary especially if you track the car......you should know this man.

300whp.... if you add that much power you really throw off the balance of the car. if i had 500whp i would probably need 18" wheels and an even more massive BBK, at least 295s, some aero, etc.

very true, upgrades would be needed for a track car. But street car and aoccasional track event its fun. After riding in Steve and Chris- TCKChris (Chris car made 512whp) I new 30r or 35r was the route I wanted to go

Im not familiar with AEM or hydra tunning but is everyone doing this because of the launch control??
Ive got a general sense of tunning from rideing with jeff (snowman) and him showing me how to do it!
Id like to actually get into tunning soon!

yeah there are lots of 500+ awhp sti running on stock blocks. its a very very stout engine.
but its better to say that a good tune will make ur block last longer. with enough power, wear and tear will catch up to it.
nice choice joe but i would have went bigger :D :crack: :D

The only reason I personally see the NEED to build a block is if you are going to be making 500+whp constantly as it is a ticking timebomb then, especially for the average owner who doesn't keep a fressh tune on it all the time.
OR
Someone who it trying to shape there tq curve for a specific reason, like me.
Of coures building for factor of safety is always good too.
I'm Slow
07-03-2008, 02:31 PM
I expect to be around 550whp on race gas.......i am confident that Gadiel can keep the stock block in check for a little while. I would only run the race gas tune at the track. I plan on driving around on pump at around 400-450 with meth for safety
