WRX vs Silver Mustang GT

Friday 20th - 730 ish PM

lets cut it short and start by saying i got my ass handed to me..

riding along just under Veterens Expressway on Gunn highway heading toward sheldon and i stop ext to a nice looking silver GT.. not the current shape.. theone before with the slightly smaller side ducting.. andhow.. he is checking the car out..and nods apreciatively.. and the light goes green.. we are both 2 cars back.. and just cruise along.. he proceeds to hit it and the front of his car lifts.. and no wheel spin...i was impressed.. we rolled throught he next lights.. and caught a red infront of the Citrus Park mall.

my hands were sweating.. and i had the sheakes alittle. .he is revving at me.. and i was revving back i think but i couldnt fucking hear my own car..hehe.. his was loud.. and VERY far from stock.. some VERY grippy tires because when it went green.. he chirped a little.. and was gone.. he launched like i couldnt beleive a V8 could.. anyhow.. i fucked my launch.. then it wouldnt go into 2nd properly and i shut down.. by that time he had 4 -5 cars on my and was shutting down too..

i think had i hooked up.. and got into 2nd (the WRX launch is all about the shift into 2nd because 1st comes and goes in aheart beat) then i might have got a car or 2 on him before he handed me my ass.. but.. as it turned out i looked the fool and i have to admit that mustang was nicely done.. silver.. a white banner across the top.. (cant remember what it said).... and definately some VERY grippy tires.. prolly nittos or some such.. anyhow.. my first real loss.. and my first real race with a serious contender..

i cheered myself up 20 mins later by harrassing some kid in a black Celica GT with yellow trimming..hehe.. i kept slowing down and then taking off.. and raced him once from a light.

Well its good that we have some honest people on this board that post even when they lose. My hats off to ya I respect that. Anyway back to the death. U either raced a 96-98 Gt which are dogs. Or u raced a 94-95 5 liter. But sounds like he had some suspension mods. Did the guy have long dark hair? Good story. -Mark

was a 4.6.. and yeah.. they might be dogs out of the box.. but this thing was far from stock.. and he didnt just have suspension.. it was a VERY quick car.

Hey WRX guy that was a tight race. I wanted to see if an AWD could yank me. My car is a 00 Steeda the writing across the front says STEEDA in silver. Anyways good race and you can check out all my mods in my sig. There is nothing really BIG suspension wise done to it. I do also have Nittos...;)

i would like a rematch after i pay for my trip to australia and put some stuff on my car (minor bolt ons) .. hehe.. or even just another rematch if i see you around.. this time hopefully i wont fuck it..

Then to even things up... unhook the rear drive line. Or go from a roll at say 40mph... whats your dsm run??? Slicks V/s awd at the track would be an even matchup. I got to run a 3000 GT VR4 couple weeks back. He cut a 1.79 60 to my 1.88. Even enough for me to take him by 3 tenths despite the fact my car wasnt running stromng that day 106mph (no wonder toasted #s 3 & 4 pistons) Thanks for the compliment on the motors.

well.. not to piss anyone off either but i guarantee you the sole reason is driver skill.. how many AWD turbo charged cars have you driven ?.. if youd like to see what the WRX is capable of.. let me know.. im not the worlds best driver.. but i will certainly impress you.. ask the few people i took for drives yesterday.. yes it handles well on the dirt.. but it does just as well on the tarmac.. and let me guess.. you droveit with stock tires?.. those RE92s totally suck.. even worse than normal RE92s.. i also have a boost controller.. running stock boost.. totally changes the car..

ask around to the people who have ridden in my car.. its is far from handeling like crap.. a person who is used to the car and decent tires make a whole hell of a lot of diff..

oh.. and they are MY02.. not 01.. WRX wasnt here as an 01 model.. unless its a gerey import from over seas.. this style is called the MY01 elsewhere though.

It really does all depend on the driver in that car TRUST me. It works the same with every car. If the person cant drive a car to its full potential itll never feel or perform as good as it would with someone who knows what theyre doing.

Exactly. ACME is a perfect example of that. Why who would have expected a supecharged VR6 to get the hazards from a near stock Maxima at the TR.com drag day last year?
