Our subject will be this 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer:

The deadline will be next Tuesday, the 24th of June. If you feel you have finished, post your entry in here. If you would like to update your entry, edit the original post.... do not make a new post for the update or revision because people won't know which of yours is the one you want in the contest.

The rules are as follows.

1: Post your completed pic in no higher resolution than 1024 X 768. If you want to show off details, post a link to the hi-res image.

2: Do not "use" or "steal" parts of any other photochop, from here or any other site. All cut and paste parts must be from an original photo which you can provide in whole if asked.

3: Have fun!

I went with the JDM purple and gray two tone candy paint :P
With some deep dish wheels I got off some S14, S14 yellow foglights, and FMIC from various vehicles on google.

I still want to do a few things to it. I might even put different wheels on it because I do not think those look perfect, but I wanted to get it in there before someone used a similar color. I understand why some people are "hiding" theirs until the deadline, but if anyone critiques my concept, hopefully my originality wont go unnoticed. :D

no worries. The color looks different anyway, plus there isn't a rule saying you can't have the same color. It just so happens that the 2008 Lancer looks good in orange ;)

There really aren't any guidelines like that, but in case anybody is wondering...all of the original picture is underneath my chop...

Just like the police car with flashing lights...it has several different car parts attached... I stayed all Mitsu...

The more you do to a pic to change it from the original is better..(it shows that you put more work into it than 5 minutes)... as long as it's quality work.

I mean, the guy who posted the Lancer monster truck on wire wheels really changed up the original pic... so much so that hardly anything was Lancer related.

Someone's gotta show me how to do such a strong color change like everyone seems to be doing. Are you just doing the digimods method of image->adjustments->variations?

There are several ways to paint cars... I always do my selections of all of the painted parts with the pen tool and then create a new layer and actually paint it like you'd paint a car.

Then that layer can be adjusted any way you want... or even have multiple layers.

There is no one right way to paint a car... some people just adjust the settings of the paint that's already on the car but if you do it that way be sure to have made a duplicate layer underneath the one you change so you can delete all of the non car paint parts like windows and wheels and BG.

Working with the pen tool is something I need to practice more. No need fora tutorial though.

Do you guys ever work with luminosity masks? That's something I've been trying with my photos lately but I just don't seem to be able to get what I want out of it.

never tried the lumiosity stuff... i usually duplicated the selected item you wanna change. then image>adjustments>hue/saturation>color and then adjust from there.

Just did a little more work on mine.

I duplicate the layer I want to color, then for color change I use Image>adjustments>color balance. and I can change it from there. Then I erase the stuff on the top image that I want to show through (ie. rims, windows...etc)
