Just out of curiosity, which one do you guys follow for 04/05 STi:

1) "Remove the slave cylinder with the line still in and use a c-clamp to hold the push rod in . With the push rod being held by the c-clamp have the helper push the pedal until there is a force and wont let the pedal go any further. This is when you open the bleeder. Close the bleeder when the pedal goes all the way down. You will have to manually bring the pedal back. Also make sure you are holding the slave cylinder at 45 deg angle with bleeder on top."

2) "Fill reservoir.
A) IT's pump clutch 3-5 times and hold the clutch to the floor.
B) open nipple just enough so the fluid it pushed out.
C) close nipple
D) release clutch (may have to reach down and pull it up
repeat 1-4 and pay attention to the master reservoir. Don't let it get
low at all. Keep it full at all times."

I always use the second method for bleeding brakes, thats the best way to make sure you are at maximum pressure.

brakes and clutch are two different animals. im sure there's a reason why the maintenance manual says to use C-clamps..

edit:ah just figured it out... with your brakes the hydraulic piston(s) are pushing up against a stationary object (rotors) so its possible to just hold the pedal down for maximum pressure. with a clutch, there is nothing stationary to make pressure.. thats why you need a c-clamp. me = FTW

i accept payment in the form of rep, girlfriends, or cash.
