what would cause the steering wheel to shake? seems like the front wheels are shaking bad between 40mph and 55mph, anything higher or lower is ok... could it be rotors/brakes? or the suspension? when i say the steering wheel shake i mean like i have to take my hands off of it sometimes..

just wondering before i bring it somewhere... thanks for input

 

It could be the tires, wheels, there is a lot that it could be. I would start simple and have the front tires balanced.

 

could be your tierods too

 

Id say rotors i got a set 4 u 30 bucks 5 lug

and in the meantime (today is my friday) i will check the tierods, balljoints, and tension rods - there are big rims on the car so that may explain it...


also, if i have bigger rims on the car (its an infiniti with 20") should i upgrade to some bigger rotors/brakes? or what would you recommend?

 

you're asking two different things...
what is causing your steering wheel to shake and what brakes should you get?
are you trying to ask if the small, stock brakes will cause this problem?
I'm not sure what it is that you are trying to get at...
your steering wheel shakes because your tie rods are bad. Your tie rods are bad because of the huge fucking rims you have.
it has nothing to do with your rotors.

 

i would think it would be tierods because i know mine are bad and mine shakes from 45 through 50

 

When you're checking for tierods, balljoints, etc, you're just seeing if they're loose or broken. If that's the case, you'd have other symptoms. Every time my cars have had a shake at 50-60mph, it's always been a bent wheel. Once you're done checking things out, jack the front of the car up and spin the wheel by hand freely. Look under the car at the inside of the wheel. With the wheel spinning, it's easy to spot a bend/out of round.
